Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Wednesday a.m. stuff

Blah.

Every time I think this team has hit the bottom, it ends up sinking a little lower.

I don't feel like posting any links to stories this morning.  You guys can, in the comments, if you want.

Stuff this morning, in a nutshell:

Eric Gagne is going to have a bullpen session today

ChiSox g.m. Kenny Williams thinks Brandon McCarthy is going to get things straightened out

The team isn't hitting well

Kam Loe = R.A. Dickey
Love affair with a big bag of nothing.

Send Loe down...let Wood or Astacio take the ball every 5th.

Kenny Williams
is loving this.

Masset's ERA is under 4. And Danks has been reasonably stable.

I just noticed that Danks pitches today at 2:35.

I'm finally hoping Danks fails.

Just 5 horrible McCarthy starts and I'm switching to the dark side. ABD - Anyone But Danks.

do the Sox need a CF?
even though is somewhat of a bright spot for the Rangers, maybe we can trade Lofton to the WS and get at least Masset back?

the sox
theyve got a centerfielder he's just sitting in the minors rotting away
"Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!" "If you don't throw strikes first, you're last."

This team needs an intrevention.
or a reset button.
People rarely live up to their baby pictures.

i'm with rangersfan34...
...some of the onus has to be on the scouts, or lack thereof...

The optomist
I never write off the season until the Rangers are all but mathmatically eliminated. That said, if performance warrants, I'm all for blowing it up this season.

I look at the D-Rays, Marlins, D-Backs (to a lesser extent) and even the Royals, and think that it must be exciting to be a fan of those teams. Sure, they probably won't win a division (D-Backs excepted), but there's potential.

I also think now might be the time to blow it up because of market uncertainties. It's tought to tell if last off season's contracts are going to be the norm or whether they were an aberration due to overreaction from the new collective bargaining agreement. I think the next two offseasons will let us know exactly what the free agent market is. At least last season the Rangers didn't potentially cripple themselves with a bunch of bad contracts like the Cubs. The Rangers only have MY's to deal with.

Most fans will rebel, but Rangers will still be economically better off than the Marlins, Rays and Royals. Once the new talent is ready to produce, the Rangers just need to pony up and fill out the remaining needs with good FAs.

Well Mr. Burns had done it. The power plant had won it. With Roger Clemens clucking all the while.

But can you trust the Rangers to rebuild properly?
I'm just frustrated because we've had all the talented young pieces, and we have the front office saying a few years ago that they're not going to trade those pieces away.  But think about how good the Rangers would be today if the front office had actually followed its own promise.  We could have: Travis Hafner, Chris Young, Adrian Gonzalez, and John Danks making major contributions to the team right now.  I know the Hafner deal happened a long time ago, but that doesn't make it any less stupid.

Also, it wasn't pleasant to read this morning that Phil Hughes was selected 24th overall in the same draft where we got Thomas Diamond at the 10th pick.

i feel the same way.....
if we would rebuild, draft, and reep the benefits of wise picks , i would be okay with that. the rangers have only seen a couple of draft picks actually make the team better.if we suck for a few years then we suck and that's alright as long as the guys you bring in here have a future with this team..i can't tell you the defeat that sets in when i hear of a youngster for 2-3 years in the minors , dream of the possiblity of actually having a young talented player for 5+ years in the pros, then see that player traded away for other teams trash and half season rentals.i am a diehard rangers fan so i can drink the kool-aid of "the future rangers" . it just seems as though the future is never with us all while between promises, we have to endure mediocre at best baseball. it seems like everytime they trade a cornerstone it sets the franchise back a couple of years in deveopment.
It's the one that says "bad motherfucker" on it

I can't remember exactly what went down
in that draft but didn't Hughes slide because he would only sign with a few teams like the Yankees. Signability is a big concern since if you can't sign the guy you've got nothing. Better to draft a guy, sign him, develop him and have something than not having anyone at all.

yeah my optimism is out the window, which is new
to me - I'm ready to throw in the towel and ship Tex off to the Giants, Mike Young to the Twins, Gagne and Padilla to the Yankees, Sosa to the Angels and just tear this sucker up

maybe this is just knee-jerk...maybe I'll change my mind - but I have to see SOMETHING other than Ian Kinsler and Rob Tejeda on this team

"No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of."

Haha
No matter what if he has 20 bad outings in a row, I will love him forever, that stuff is great.
