Nick Masset

Masset got his first start of the season today, getting a win against the Chicago Cubs. Solid but not spectacular performance: 5.2 IP, 3 hits, 2 ER, 3 BBs, 3 Ks.

He's been having a pretty mediocre-to-terrible season for the White Sox (this outing lowered his ERA to 5.73). The early returns say we didn't give up too much in this guy. Hopefully that continues to be the case.

Yep him and Danks
Let's just look at what Bmac has done in his last 4 starts he is starting to turn it around.

Two starting pitchers
for McCarthy?  No way should the trade have been made.

BMAC last 4
B Mac last 4 starts
3-0, 2.31 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 13 Ks, 23.1 IP

Danks last 4 starts
2-2, 3.51 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 21 Ks, 25.2 IP

I guess is all you are interested in is W and ERA then BMac is better... While I am excited that his numbers are looking better, I am less excited that his K/BB ratio is this stretch is 1.18(13/11) while Danks has a K/BB ratio of 3.00 (21/7) over his last 4 starts.

Zambrano
to me the more interesting aspect of this game is that Zambrano is really not pitching very well.  He gave up 7 ER on 6 H and 4 BB, raising his ERA to 5.61.  So much for the pitching for a contract theory.  I think he's only had 3 quality starts thus far.

Maybe he is pitching hurt?
Still I would love to see the Rangers make a play for him next year.

Oh, he'll still be rich

So much for him winning he Cy Young
like he so humbly predicted he would.
If you don't have fun it's your own damn fault.
