NCAA baseball playoffs

I know many of you don't care about college baseball.  But here are three reasons that you should overlook the metal bats and enjoy the next few weeks:

1> Watch future draft picks in action.  With the Rangers having a haul of picks next week and barrelling towards a top 5 draft pick next June, there are likely a lot of future Rangers playing in regionals this weekend.  Zywica's draft previews can point to more names than I, but some names to watch for this year include Jake Arrieta (TCU), Joe Savery (Rice), Corey Brown (Oklahoma St.), Andrew Brackman (NCstate), and Nick Schmidt (Arkansas) may all be potential Rangers picks in the first or comp picks.  Some great sophomores for our early pick next year are worth looking at, including Pedro Alvarez (Vandy) and Brian Matusz (USD).

2> Very very good chance your college is doing better than the Rangers right now.  Rice, Texas, and Texas A&M are all hosting regionals this weekend, with TCU, Baylor, Sam Houston St, and Prairie View A&M adding to a very healthy Texas contingent in the NCAAs this year.  Anyone in Houston should definitely check out the Rice/TCU/Baylor/PV regional, with a potential of an Arrieta/Savery matchup.  The Texas regional with UC Irvine (BA's #9) will also be very good

3> The games are really cheap if you can go in person - you can sit 4 rows behind the dugout for less than $10 usually.  Great deal for high quality baseball - despite the 'ding'.

Go Rice Owls!
