Teix is worthless
They just played a postgame quote on the Ticket Ticker of Teix saying, "I am felling better, you know it always takes me a while to get going, but I need to start playing better if this team is going to turn the corner."
Wow. Mensa level statement. He admits and believes that he is a slow starter and will always be a slow starter. Way to give us some hope Teix.

Tex
That's
As bad as a slow start is
Everybody slumps
I'm much more concerned about Mike Young who still looks completely lost than Teix who appears to be coming out of his funk.
concern about Young
What a way to kick off your tenure as the Face of the Franchise! Nothing like historical bad level of play from your stud SS and marquee player to sink your ship right out of port.

Everybody slumps
When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough of this team, well hang on
Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries and everybody slumps sometimes
Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go, (hold on)
When you think you've had too much of this team, well hang on
'Cause everybody slumps. Take comfort in your friends
Everybody slumps. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone
If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
When you think you've had too much of this team to hang on
Well, everybody slumps sometimes,
Everybody cries. And everybody slumps sometimes
And everybody slumps sometimes. So, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Everybody slumps. You are not alone
Yep

too little too late
Normally I would agree
Could we really be dissapointed with a first round playoff loss.
Trade him now
to trade him now
his value is as low as it has EVER been right now!

This is true.....
A tough decision is coming....
an idea:
SP prospect (id MUCH rather have kershaw over elbert - so much its not even close), loney, broxton for something like teixeria, one of our bullpen guys (anyone but aki/frankie franscisco) im all for it.
id be estatic if we did something like:
kershaw, loney, broxton(if we give aki) or meloan (if we dont) for teixeria, bullpen guy (aki?), prospect (not hurley, JMJ, poveda, etc)
FWIW
kershaw has 35k/15bb in 25 IP with a BAA of .184 (ERA: 1.08) (low-a) (6'3 210)
elbert has a 24k/10bb in 14 IP with a BAA of .128 (ERA: 3.86) (AA - missed his last start w/ "shoulder stiffness") (6'2'' 190)
meloan has 19k/2bb in 19 IP with a BAA of .191 (ERA: 2.03) (6'3'' 225)
compare to hurley:
26k/7bb in 36 IP -- BAA of .221 -- ERA of 1.75 in AA (6'4'' 195)

Soft?
he played in the minors and proved he was better than the guys he was playing with - so he got promoted - why keep someone in the minors who is ready to play just to make him tough.
The Hardline don't know squat about what the rest of the major league thinks about Tex - while we fans may overvalue Tex - I seriously doubt if he was offered in a fair trade that a Gm would say know because they think he is soft.
If he has
Hell, remeber when the Devil Rays wanted Teix for Rocco and we all laughed. I doubt they would even still do that deal.
well
if we trade a gold glove silver slugger 1b, we better get better than an average position player.
I've never liked Tex
Nevertheless, it may be a good time for JD to start paying attention to which teams are going to be contending who may need a good bat at first (Arizona, Cleveland, the Yankees?), because as soon as the draft happens, that scouting department needs to be looking for some hidden jewels in the minor league systems of those teams...
