Some linkaliciousness

I've got nothing of substance to say today, so here are some links...

SI has their 15 most intimidating pitchers of all time...

John Barten offers up this week's installment of the BTB Weekly Awards...

Carl Pavano is in a snit over the Yanks wanting him to see another doctor about his elbow, because he says he needs surgery, and the other doctors he's seen say he needs surgery, and that should be that...

Joe Sheehan ruminates on whether Roger Clemens is really going to be worth the money the Yanks are going to pay him...

And Jeff Passan says that MLB may actually do something about the ridiculous TV blackout rules...

haha
Pedro Martinez??  Really?  That guy is only as intimidating as Dirk.

And there's no way baseball drops their blackout rules.  It flies in the face of everything they've ever said on the subject.

You obviously
don't remember Pedro in his prime.

Pedro in his prime
was quite simply the most dominant pitcher I've ever seen.  Guys like Nolan, Johnson and Clemens were more powerful, and guys like Maddux and Glavine could put balls in places in ways you never imagined, but Pedro, for a few years there, had this combination of both styles which was just ridiculous and unfair.

If only he had played anywhere but Montreal in the mid '90s...  (if only he had played in Texas...)

Marichal
"His reputation was colored by his bat-swinging blowup at Dodgers catcher John Roseboro on Aug. 22, 1965. Marichal had already flattened Maury Wills and Ron Fairly with brushbacks when Roseboro's return throw came close to Marichal's head. Marichal rapped the catcher on the head with his bat, sparking a wild brawl."

I seriously think the Rangers should hire Marichal as a consultant to Padilla...

Where's Vincente?
If he keeps it up, Padilla will eventually make the list of Most Feared, and also make the list of Slowest Pitchers. God, that guy needs to speed things up! Hit the batter already!
