Promo Codes

Does anyone know how to get the promo codes to purchase tickets online through mlb.com? A website?  Phone #?   Anything here will help!

Gonna go see the Ray's and Yanks tonight, so if you live in Florida, and you have the magic touch - please share!

Ya -
I wanted to get 2 tix for tonights game.  I just recently moved to Flordia, and this is my 1st time at the Tropicana, so I when I went online to buy tix, I noticed there was a space to put in a promo code.  I'm sure I'll only save like 5-10 bucks, but I'm still interested in how you even get these codes?

I've never really bothered
to track any promo codes down...
More than likely, the codes originate from either email/phone/letter promotions from the Devil Rays, promotions from advertisers, or even the St. Pete Times printing some promo code in the newspaper.

Prepare to be disappointed in the Trop... thedirkatron will tell you.

Really?
It looks like a nice stadium from the pics....are you able to tailgate there?  I used to go to PETCO in SD all the time, but hated the fact that you couldn't tailgate.

Tonight is Latino Heritage Night...woo hoo...looks like I'm gonna get a stupid Rays Maraca.  oh ya baby!  I would liked it better if they gave away a free Carne Asada Burrito to the 1st 10,000...I could at least use that.  What am I going to do with a Ray's Maraca??

From the inside
it has all the charm of a Sam's Warehouse.

LOL
Yup. Worst stadium in the league, bar none.

Though maybe the atmosphere will be a little better with the Yanks in town. At least there will be people there. I swear to God the game I went to (Rays-White Sox) had less than 1,000 fans. That's just sad for a major league game. They announced the attendance at 9,000 or so and my friends and I almost died laughing.

Granted
I haven't been to very many MLB stadiums... (only the Trop and Old Tiger Stadium).
But the Trop just doesn't have that feel like others do.  I really think its because of how dark it is.

The best thing about it, is that you're inside and it's air conditioned.

No
the best thing about the Trop is that you get to leave when the game is over.

Before 2000
I had been to every ballpark in baseball, and with Montreal no longer in the picture, I don't think the Trop has any competition for worst stadium.

Nice
myself i've only been to the bpia, the old arlington stadium, and the astrodome. i'm hoping maybe next summer to take a trip or two to other stadiums.(the trop NOT being one on the list)

If you're eventually looking
to make it to every stadium... visiting Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater/Orlando wouldn't be too bad of an excuse to make it to a Devil Rays game.  There is a lot to do if you're not from the area.

For what its worth
last Devil Rays game I went to, I bought scalped tickets right behind the plate, 4 rows up for $10.  Its not like there was a lot of demand.

by DJCahill on Jul 14, 2007 10:33 AM CDT   0 recs

DAMN!
Who were they playing?? KC?  I don't think I can find that with the Yanks in town.  that would be nice though..

You should probably buy the cheapest tix there are
Then move down in the 2nd inning...

They're actually
surprisingly strict on that... I'm sure they would be even more so at a Yankees game

Bummer
I've had a few run-ins with Barney Fife at Padres games, too. The women and old men sec. guards are always the worst.

Well....
My 1st time at the Trop has still yet to happen.  When I got down there at 6:55pm for a 7:10 start - it was sold out!!  A Ray's game.....sold out!?  So...we went to this bar across the street called Fergs for wings and beer and watched the game.  I was impressed with how all the parking was free - but damn - St. Pete looked like the homeless capitol of the world!  So many bums walking around, it was crazy.

by SMITTY on Jul 15, 2007 8:54 AM CDT   0 recs

haha....
I guess someone should have mentioned that the Yankees are far more popular in Tampa Bay than the Devil Rays.

St. Pete really isn't that bad with homeless, they were probably just out for such a big game, heh... I don't know.
I'm in DC for the summer... it is TERRIBLE here.

I was
in Tysons Square on Leesburg Pike last week, how far is the National's ballpark from there?  Have you been to that stadium?

RFK Stadium
is on the east side of DC, almost to maryland.
If you're ever in DC just take the orange or blue line east.

I haven't been, but my sector (within the company I'm interning for) is taking everyone out to a Nats game on Thursday against the Rockies, and then the corporate office is taking interns out on Tuesday, when the Nats play the Astros.

I might go to both, not sure.

Not expecting it to be a great stadium, but it will be one more that I've been to!

RFK
isnt too bad

just move down -- we got seats on the 1st row in the OF for like 15$ and moved down to abt 10-15 rows off the field on the 3b side

remember, the key is just to act like you know what your doing  lol
