Ian Snell

I saw this while combing through the Braves SportsBlog.

From baseball prospectus:

"Talk persists around baseball that the Pirates are willing to part with right-hander Ian Snell if they can land a power hitter in the deal. Two reported targets are the Braves' Jarrod Saltalamacchia and the Dodgers' Matt Kemp, though the Dodgers would prefer to deal Andre Ethier."

http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=6485

If you could deal Teixeira for say Matt Kemp or Saltalamacchia, would you consider turning around the shipping that hitter to the Pirates for Snell?

I know most media outlets including those in DFW have reported that the Rangers would prefer to get major league starting pitching back in any deal, and this might be one way to get a pretty solid starter back. Just a thought and I hadn't seen it discussed anywhere else.

Although, I would honestly imagine that if LA or Atlanta could get Snell straight up for one of those two players, they would have already done it given their pitching needs.

if salty can land snell
the braves probably just do that.

in any case... im not sure if i would.  the rangers offense sans tex is pretty poor.  my/kinsler would be your best hitters that have any real mlb experience and they shouldnt be the feature bat in any lineup..

but obviously we need sp too heh.

i dont know.  im just not sold that snell is for real.

agreed
if the Braves could get Snell straight up for Salty, they'd have to make that deal.

Eh.
I think the team has to keep whatever offense comes back for Teixeira.

But if there's something coming back for Gagne, that's possibly expendable for someone like Snell.

Like the player, definitely.

I JUST CAN'T SEE...
...the Pirates giving up a great young arm like Snell...

that's one heck of a rotation they've built over there... even if Duke is having a down year... i'd be very surprised if they were to break that thing up just to get some bats back...

if i'm the Pirates, i try my best to sweet-talk some power-hitting free agents into coming on board in the off-season... but, Pittsburgh just isn't the baseball haven it once was...

they need to re-tool their management over there... that's what they need to do...

Snell
is a perfect addition to our team...doubtful we can add him though.

Duke's having back-to-back down years, isn't he?

"No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of."
