Gagne update per ESPN

But two baseball men who know Gagne well predicted Saturday he would approve a trade to the big contenders because, contrary to what he has said publicly, he wants to get dealt. "I know Eric too well," said one of them. "He's not going to want to sit around Texas for the last two months pitching for a team that's unloaded everyone else."

Contrary to what he said publicly, he wants to get dealt???

What do you guys think will happen with Gagne? And what do you want to happen to him?

East coast bias anyone?
This really could just be ESPN trying to convince us all that Gagne would be stupid to not want to play for the contending NE teams!

sounds like
they are just going on prior knowledge and not hearing anything directly from gagne lately though.

anyway, the only situation i see him turning down a trade to a contender is if they are not on his blockable list, they wont let him close, and if so that they also wouldnt change his contract to give him his incentive money without closing.

Gagne
I love Gagne. I would understand his sentiment, it would be a drag to be such a great closer and work in vain. He's been an inspiration all year, I'd say. We need young newbies. Bring us some meat, JD!

I think a lot of folks
put way too much weight on what players say in the press.  Any Major league player with a brain is going to say how much they like the hometeam and how much they want to stay, even if they are packing their bags and dialing the GM every day to get the hell out.

Amen.....
too much weight on what a player says.....the owner says.....the manager says....the GM says....the unnamed executive....on and on and on.

...and the...
source that "knows Gagne well" says.  I think a lot media people like to say that they know a player well because they covered the players team for years.
