best case scenario?

Has anyone thought about what they would like to see the Rangers look like on Tuesday afternoon? I have heard a lot of different proposals thrown around and have tried to keep up with all of the opinions. Its been a fun few days in Ranger-land and we have dropped two to the Royals. Weird. But from what I can judge here is what I would love to see happen. (Also, no pie in the sky offers either. Lastings Milledge will not be had for the Sooser. sorry to burst the bubble)

Tex for.....hmmm, this is VERY tough. Loney, Ethier, and Kershaw.

Gagne/ Laird for Pie

Benoit and/or Eyre to the Dodgers for prospect(s)

Sosa to Mets for the remains of Howard Johnson's corked bats.

i dont

see us getting kershaw w/o giving up like gagne..still i dont even knowthen we would have to deal laird and beniot for pie and i donno if they would do that...but damn that would put us looking pretty.

been looking up pie in the majors

and saw him when the cubs were in town...pretty swing that can play very good defense and lead off...i would offer laird and mahay, if that didnt work then id offer beniot, if that didnt work id even offer gagne, but i dont see this deal happening unless we trade tex to the braves

hmm

i would take salty/andrus/harrison
then do the laird + relievers for pie
then do gagne for ian kennedy (miraculously we got pie without him)
then do sosa for some mediocre single A guy.

and im left with salty catching, pie in center, botts DH, and then having hurley/kennedy/harrison possibilities for the 08 or 09 seasons.

now im going to go a step past your proposal and go into free agency and the 09 rangers.

in the 07 offseason i re-sign gagne despite having traded him, and then in the 08 offseason I sign adam dunn to fill the gaping 1b spot as the major free agent signing of both those years, as well as another bullpen reinforcement and some bench guys.

im left with an opening day 09 lineup and rotation of

1- Pie (cf)
2- Young (ss)
3- Kinsler (2b)
4- Dunn (1b)
5- Salty (c)
6- Blalock/metcalf platoon (3b)
7- Botts (dh)
8- Cruz (rf)
9- Mystery player. perhaps diaz. maybe a free agent. Hey, maybe mayberry jr. is breaking in.

SP- Hurley
SP- Kennedy
SP- Millwood (hopefully gets back on track)
SP- Volquez
SP- Harrison
padilla in place of whoever of those doesnt work.

Closer: Gagne
setup: wilson
setup: hopefully frankie
righty: loe, gets lots of multi inning outing and is the swing man
then a mix of whoever steps up and free agents.

with kiker and the rest now getting closer on the horizon.

the pie trade wouldnt happen, and probably not the kennedy trade, but hey... best case scenario, right?
