Good luck Tex

Let me start this by saying that I agree that Tex needed to be traded for the future of the team.  He wasn't going to re-sign here so trading him was the right thing to do in this wasted season.  I also think they got a very good return for him in the trade and that JD should get some props for that.

Now, to all the pinheads who are blogging on the DMN website and calling The Ticket, and the Ticket hosts saying good riddance and calling Teixeira everything from a cancer to an empty numbers guy to the reason the Rangers aren't a good team.......I would like to invite you to go have relations with yourselves.

LOL
Yeah, I just checked the comments on the DMN website. Some real idiocy over there.

Evan Grant's story on the trade is up- he said the Angels' best offer was Kotchman and Saunders, and that the Dodgers only offered two players- I'm guessing Loney and Ethier.

If those were the alternatives, I'm pretty pleased with what Daniels was able to acquire. It also sounds like Harrison could be the fourth player, but Grant said we may not know who it is until the end of the season.

"Then I met some friends for a beer, went to a BoDeans's concert, and son of a vondruke, if I didn't leave him at the concert hall."

according to Talking Chop
Harrison just went on the DL.  Do you think that eliminates him from the deal?

no
hes the player they want.  it will be a player to be named later, and harrison will be chosen if they believe he will be healthy going forward.

if he isnt, well then i guess they will take someone else as the player to be named later from whatever list they have.

word
People acted like Teixeira insulted their momma when he gave that interview a couple of weeks ago. Tex always seemed like a good teammate and a decent guy. Save your sports hate for people like Michael Vick or Brett Myers.
But that river of tears has dried for all of us.

Of course
Why in the HELL are any of you surprised by this? Are you that friggen stupid? Seriously?

It's always the way it goes, in order to get rid of a guy LSB must make him the "bad guy". Pudge, Juan, Raffy, Tex, Kenny Rogers, Sorianio (hell, ya'll wrotre ten thousand books on Soriano, you hated him so much)and many lesser players along the way.

It will, already has, happened with Blalock too. It would happen with Young if you could figure out a way to get rid of him. It'll happen with Saltalamacchia if he's any good.

I mean seriously, what the hell?

The one thing none of you care about is baseball and the Rangers winning.

Most of you hate the Cowboys, also.

Hey, Shark
LSB didn't exist when Pudge, Juan and Raffy left.

with facts.

Just enjoy his stream of sharkiness.

Two thumbs up J D !!!
This trade looks like it'll hold up (on paper) although of course its too early to tell. You can rest assured it won't come back to bite ya in the ass like the Soriano and Young trades. Mark Teixera was/is a great player, however, like Evan Grant said in spring training this year " what the Rangers would like most out of Mark Teixera is consistency". Knocking in the vast majority of your runs in the second half when your team is already way out of the race isn't doing your team any favors. Hopefully Salty is a lot more consistent. We could of used some of those RBI's back in April and May. Teixera being a Cancer?  A bit of a strong word- but I don't think bitterness is ever a help to a teams dynamic. I look forward to life without Tex.

Seriously, where do you get this stuff?
With the exception of last season, Tex is pretty consistent in his production pre-ASB and post-ASB.  And in each of the last three years, the Rangers were not out of the race by the ASB as they were this year, so the fact that he's a .930+ OPS hitter post-ASB has been a good thing for the Rangers.  The fact that no division titles ever materialized was certainly not Tex's fault.

And the fact that a player wants to win, and is vocal about it in a couple of newspaper articles per year does not make him "bitter."  Is the player supposed to turn cartwheels when his team is sucking and appears not to have any worthwhile direction?  That's just silly.

Tex is a notorious slow starter...
hes famous for that. Evan Grant and other sportswriters wouldn't be saying it if he wasn't. Evan once again repeated that in his column today.
If like Evan Grant says "what the Rangers would like most out of Teixera is constency" obviously it was a bone of contention. If Tex had been consistant and knocked in some of those runs in April and May that he typically saves up for August and Sept.(and yes the Rangers are usually out of it by then) then the Rangers would of been even more in contention if not in the lead which would of at least giving them a fighting chance.
Theres lots of players who aren't happy with the way their teams are playing. But can you imagine if they all started talking shit about managementand playing for Baltimore, and it was more than twice. I don't expect cartwheels thats a bit of an extreme but it would of been nice if he'd of dealt with it with a little bit of decorum and class. The bottom line is - its much better to put a team on the field that actually wants to be there then one  who can't wait to play for someone else. How can his attitude of possibly been a plus ? The Rangers scored more runs and had a higher winning percentage without him and i expect that to contine.

You are dead on
On the other hand, I've seen some hyberbole the other way.  Like calling him a future hall of famer and the Best Rangers first baseman ever.  The 1B before Teixeira was pretty damn good.

by DJCahill on Jul 30, 2007 11:14 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Well
You didn't like him either.

You dont like any good Ranger players.

ok
I said that, and then I retracted it.  Why you gotta bust balls.

Yup
Good luck Teix, you were a great 1B for the rangers and one of my faves but all good things must end.  Hope you roll some NL guys and have great success in ATL.

I heard more people calling
And saying they'll never support the Rangers again because of this, than saying bad things about Tex.

Public opinion was clearly more anti-Rangers in this.

hint
Adverbs like "clearly", "obviously", or "totally duh" don't make your arguments more convincing.
