seriously
either play diaz or send him down.

for gods sake they wont even use the guy to pinch hit.  its ridiculous.

i had the rangers chances at 35% last night.  tonight: 15%.

yup
i'm saying...send him down and call up botts.

well
if botts is going to take diaz's place, as in sit on the bench all the time - what good is that?
Forget Johnny Bench, we got Gerry "the Jet" Laird

Why the hate...
for Diaz?  What does Wash have against him?  JHJ in CF?  Good lord, this lineup sucks.  I would say that we would win (since we have been with crappy lineups lately), but I saw that Robby Tejeda is pitching.  Gonna be a long night.

FSN scared me
opened the broadcast with 20 seconds of footage with an empty ballpark, pouring down rain and a tarp on the field.

just footage from earlier i guess though.

LOFTON?
what's the status of his leg injury?

lucky to only be down one.

Someone mentioned RA Dickey?  Where is he now?  Still throw the nuckle?

by JB @ Lone Star Ball on Jul 5, 2007 8:38 PM CDT reply actions

playing on nashville sounds, milwaukees AAA
has gone 5 innings 1 run vs the redhawks tonight.
has a 4.44 ERA down there.

i dont believe he uses the knuckleball as his primary pitch anymore.

bottsy just walked against him, 1 for 2 with a single, walk and K.

by DShep on Jul 5, 2007 8:40 PM CDT up reply actions

sosa
do we have to hear how many career homeruns he has every time he comes to bat

now theres no double play chance.  sigh.

Hairston what the F*&K were ...
you thinking?.. you're great in the infield but brain dead in the outfield..

if not for Hairston's incompetence in center.

oh well, got him anyway.
now byrdman and bad brad coming up.  thats got to be worth a run, right?  well, maybe if after it got past laird the top 2 in the lineup were freakin hairston and vazquez.  ah, i miss the days of kenny-kinsler-young-tex-sosa-blalock.  well, i think that happened a couple times.

by DShep on Jul 5, 2007 8:58 PM CDT reply actions

do you hit and run with the worst contact guy on the team up?

im not saying id rather have kept barajas
a couple million dollars isnt the reason everyone complained about barajas so much the past 2 and a half years.

lairds just getting a bit annoying with his offense.  oh well, at least hes throwing out runners.

sac flies last nite...
don't help the BA, but is good siyuational hitting, and was key to a win. he does the little things that often get missed in the stats pretty well.

by dog named blue on Jul 5, 2007 11:39 PM CDT up reply actions

agree
though his bat has been a big disappointment overall, he was good last night despite the O-fer.

by t ball on Jul 6, 2007 12:34 AM CDT up reply actions

I'm not surprised about Laird
...and was disappointed the Rangers didn't bring in another catcher in the off-season.  I didn't say much because I thought he deserved a shot at being the starter, but I knew he wouldn't hit.

His D ain't that bad, though, and in situations he's okay.  The Rangers lineup just has too many holes.  Even if Blalock and Teixeira were playing everyday it still wouldn't be a good hitting team.

by Dustin on Jul 6, 2007 11:05 AM CDT up reply actions

lineup
you hit on something there, they have too many players who would be fine hitting 7, 8, or 9 behind stronger bats.

by t ball on Jul 6, 2007 12:21 PM CDT up reply actions

How about
anybody else in the big leagues.

by badradiorules on Jul 5, 2007 9:08 PM CDT reply actions

Damn, Escobar
is pretty good.  But, hell, doesn't Tejeda have basically the same stuff.  He could be Escobar some day.

wish MY could cash it in, but im not too optimistic.

didnt wilk strike out his last 2 times yesterday?
5 ks in a row?

hes got a pass the entire week from me bashing him, but heh... 5 in a row?  dont suppose its really any different than sosa with soft groundouts or popups like 10 in a row right now though.

by DShep on Jul 5, 2007 9:54 PM CDT reply actions

Yea,
I like to bag on Wilk too, but that pitch was filthy 3-2.

by badradiorules on Jul 5, 2007 9:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Checked Gameday
Strike two seemed to be out of the zone, and strike 3 seemed to really be outside. Just sayin.
Well Mr. Burns had done it. The power plant had won it. With Roger Clemens clucking all the while.

by WyoRanger on Jul 5, 2007 10:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Yea,
but it was a 3-2 change up from a guy throwing 96.  Pretty much impossible to hit.  Gameday is never close on the locations of pitches by the way.

by badradiorules on Jul 5, 2007 10:35 PM CDT up reply actions

the problem: that was the 6th K in a row at bat =)
at least i think thats what you were talking about, as he struck out swinging in the one i made teh original post on

you read my mind...
yeh i think it has been 5 in a row or seems like it... sammys ice cold at the moment too..agreed !

RA Dickey
6IP 1ER vs Oklahoma.  Is he still doing the knuckleball thing?

by badradiorules on Jul 5, 2007 10:04 PM CDT reply actions

Wow
To limit that juggernaut to 1 run in 6 innings is impressive.  If Daniels were smart he'd find a way to bring him in here to front the rotation.
