Anti-Cy Young Award

Bob Cook from MSNBC gives the award to Millwood and Padilla. I do not disagree with everything he says about the duo, but I am pretty sure the Rangers are not on the hook for $25 million this season. Yes, Millwood has not played up to his #1 standing but his contract is reasonable.

Are the Rangers really paying $25 mil for these two? I thought Millwood was making less than $8 this season.

Oh yeah
He also ranks JD has the Anti-Exec of the Year. Not sure how long people will hold the Coco and Mench trade over his head. I still don't beleive that Coco would have rebounded.

I think that everyone conveniently forgets
about the overwhelming consensus at the time the trade was made.  Or, if they don't remember that, they claim that they were one of the few who knew at the time it wouldn't turn out well.  I'm sure you were one of the sage few.

I like Wilkerson
I liked the trade.

I was asking DSCRIB because I thought every other post he's every made on this board was a rant about how much Wilkerson sucked.

I could be thinking of someone else, though.

Well
Judging from my previous posts I would say that I am a strong to quite strong supporter.

Cool!
Awards based on batting average and pitching wins.  We need more of that.

Millwood and Padilla are making about $19 combined this season.  He probably averaged their entire contracts and included Millwood's vesting option.

as bad as millwood has been
padilla is way worse.

millwood/padilla

era 6.16/6.69
wins-loss 6-7/3-8
gs 15/15
ip 80.3/80.7
so 60/47
era+ 74/68
whip 1.68/1.81

their era and ip/start are close enough, but after that they are quite different.

what is disturbing is this stat:
runs 59/69  a difference of 10 in favor of millwood
earned runs 55/60 a difference of only 5

the defense caused padilla 5 runs more than millwood.
