Send Evan Grant questions

Evan Grant has a blog post up asking for questions for the newsletter.

Send him some good questions, that don't involve things like "How about if the Rangers trade Edinson Volquez and Jason Botts to the ChiSox for Jermaine Dye and Mark Buehrle?"

Can we ask when the red unis are coming back?
Because if we go back to those eyesores, we'll get back in the playoffs.

Trade
I think the Rangers should try to trade Edinson Volquez and Jason Botts to the ChiSox for Jermaine Dye and Mark Buehrle.  Do you think that Chicago would do that?

Also, do you think Pete Rose should be in the HOF?  Discuss.

I want to know
When are the Rangers going to spend some money and get some pitching in here?

by badradiorules on Jul 9, 2007 12:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Greer
He should be the first player-manager since Pete Rose.  He can bat leadoff and play left.  He'll add some grit to this line-up.

by JBImaknee on Jul 9, 2007 1:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Yep
he'll whip these guys into shape and get them playing just like him.

Speaking of that...
I wonder what Will Clark is up to these days.

Clark
300 pounds, last I saw him...

how about
Mickey Tettleton, anybody seen that guy lately?

Evan loves him some JD
so he thinks that they already have...as do the other members of the Love-JD-Blindly Club.

we get it
you hate jd, he ran over your dog and had a one night stand with your sister.

That's OK, too.

nah
i don't love him, i just don't think he's the worst gm on earth.
he's made some really bad moves but has made some good ones too, what gm has a perfect record?

Evan Grant
He likes JD because he actually talks to him, unlike the previous GM.  Plus, I think Grant has a man-crush on him.

What's your point?
I think you are selling Grant short. A good deal.

Many times, he has outlined in good detail why he thinks highly of John Daniels. And I can't say I've read anything remotely indefensible from him in that vein. A few points are obviously debatable, but nothing has smacked of favoritism. Perhaps you could be specific.

And you seem to implying something gay in your man-crush comment, as opposed to the typical way it is used.

And why wouldn't a reporter express a minor bit of preference for an exec who doesn't avoid and stonewall? Accountability is a plus in my book.

Terrific!
I've been meaning to ask about bringing Rick Helling, Joh Burkett, Aaron Sele, and John Wetteland back.
Maybe while we're at it, we can convince JD to grow a Melvinstache!

speaking of funny trade talk
from AZ Snake Pit (Eric Byrnes will be a FA after this year):

Arizona sends Eric Byrnes, Cris Carter, and Edgar Gonzalez.

Texas sends Eric Hurley and Soloman Manriquez(C AA).

and

Snakes send Eric Byrnes, Dustin Nippert and Randy Choate for Mark Texeira everyone knows they're looking to deal him

Chris Carter would be a great CF
He probably would have played a couple more years for the Vikings had Moss not come along and run him off.

Okay
Here's a trade proposal an Orioles fan emailed me, asking if I thought it was reasonable:

Im thinking something like, Melvin Mora Chris Ray Jay Gibbons and Corey Patterson, for a Tex and Gagne deal.

by Adam J. Morris on Jul 9, 2007 5:36 PM CDT up reply actions

No way in Hell
That I would do that. Chris Ray is the only good piece there and he is a releiver. We have an obvious abundance of them. I would not trade Tex or Gagne alone for that group.

by Allen13 on Jul 9, 2007 6:55 PM CDT up reply actions

I'd bet...
we'd have to throw in Hurley, too.

just wanting to know
if u deal aki for gwynn jr. and another class-A prospect

by weslyenkid01 on Jul 9, 2007 2:57 PM CDT reply actions

You say "another"
but Gwynn isn't a class-A prospect.

by a bebop a rebop on Jul 10, 2007 8:24 AM CDT up reply actions

Jeffress
is about the only class-A prospect that I'd take with Gwynn for Otsuka. And I'd probably want to know that scouts are liking what they're currently seeing from Jeffress before I was comfortable with that. Gwynn just doesn't come close to Otsuka for me.

by Brett Perryman on Jul 11, 2007 12:22 AM CDT up reply actions

i know that
thats why i daid gwynn and another class-a prospect
