Oklahoma Coaching Staff

Taking from Adam this morning it got me thinking.  The guys in Oklahoma have apparently fixed the hole in Jason Botts swing, fixed Kameron Loe's delivery, fixed Nelson Cruz's stance, turned Marlon Byrd into a stud, turned Mike Wood back into a semi-prospect, etc.

My question why aren't these guys up here?  So as much as I want to see Botts up here maybe the best move is to "bring up" Andy Hawkins and Randy Whisler!

Anyone have an idea of how these guys are viewed throughout the league?

we were all convinced that stuff left with buck.  apparently not.
Forget Johnny Bench, we got Gerry "the Jet" Laird

Littleton
I was upset about that too. I also didn't think the Eraser got a fair shot here, either.

On the subject of the "good face"- why is it we never hear about anyone having a "bad face?"

"Then I met some friends for a beer, went to a BoDeans's concert, and son of a vondruke, if I didn't leave him at the concert hall."

no kidding
I don't get why Wes hasn't been in the Rangers plans this season. I mean the bullpen has been fine and all this season, but I still hope they haven't given up on him.
But that river of tears has dried for all of us.

How much communication..
.. goes on from the big league coaches and the farm directors to the minor league coaches?

When Kam went down, was it all Hawk, or were other folks involved in identifying what he needed to work on?

So much for communication.......
I was afraid you might be talking about a different "C" word....Shew!!! (Ann Coulterish)

Btw, helluva job last night....might "force" Wash's hand (closing) if you keep that stuff up!

Yup
that makes sense CJ.  It just seems those guys are very good at what they do.  The speed thing definitely makes sense.

Botts has always raked in the minors, but apparently they changed his swing a little as to not have a "hole" in it.  Now let's get him up here to see if major league pitchers can find the hole or not!

I guess if Cruz finally got it in his head that hey man I have to change something then it might have just been a timing thing.  It would be huge if that dude puts it together...huge.

Bev...pick up some infield dirt, come to Arlington, and throw it on CJ!

CJ you seem to be pretty aware of stats and what not.  Do you guys generally know what your ERA is?  Or do you just know that you have been pitching well or pitching bad?

Oh yeah...congrats on closing the game out last night..nice

ERA?
as long as you have his ear, why not get him looking at his peripherals or his DiPS ERA.

BGL
is making a great point.  The coaches down there are obviously doing something right, but they don't deserve all the credit.  The players deserve part, because they're willing to go down there and work and get better.  And the big league staff probably sent them down there with some directions and goals.  It's a group effort and I am glad it's working so well right now.  You need that at the top of your development chain.
mmmmmm...64 slices of American cheese...

CJ
great game last night. I know you want to eventually be a starter, but, closers make pretty good money also :)

If you are pointing to coaches Mike...
I think you need to start at the top with Bobby Jones.  I think he is as responsible (if not more) for the success of our players as anyone on our staff.  He does a great job of keeping the egos in check and keeping a good chemistry and attitude even when we are sucking...

Et tu CJ?  It's bad enough when the Rangers officials and fans say that the RedHawks are just a means to an end, but I'd like to think that the players think of us as a little more than just "spring training."  Hearing that kind of sentiment makes me feel like I am just wasting my time going to games and hoping for my eventual PCL title...

Have you met Bev?
I think you are making a dangerous enemy here.  Just back away slowly.

Whats the pay difference
AAA to majors?  $50K to $300K?  somewhere in that range?

No wonder folks want to get out of Ok City when they can.  Plus the fact that it is Ok City.

Easy there
OKC is a great city if you know what you're doing.

LOL,
I used to go there quite a bit back when Remington Parks was the closest race track to Dallas.

Remington is smokin' again......
they've got slots, big purses, big-time trainer's, etc.

Nice job...
last night.  The Cleveland announcers on the MLB broadcast were marveling at your location.  I am glad you're still a Ranger.

Yeah, I know there are idiots who think like that
Chad Allen was quite vocal about his feelings a few years ago.  However, I like to think that most of the players aren't like that, and instead just have horrible baseball skills rather than a horrible attitude.  Of course, if you are right that explains why so many of players become 4A guys...if you aren't willing to try your best at all times, you don't belong in the majors.

Give me the RA Dickeys, Jeff Picklers, Mike Basciks, and Pete Zoccolillos of the world...they may never be baseball stars, but at least they play the game the right way...
