Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Benoit or Wilson...

Or Papelbon? Or K-Rod?

Check out the May-July stats for these four:

Benoit -        43.1 IP, 2.28 ERA, 41K, 11BB
Wilson -        39.2 IP, 2.26 ERA, 38K, 17BB
Paperboner - 28.1 IP, 2.85 ERA, 39K, 6BB
K-Rod -         31.1 IP, 2.58 ERA, 39K, 15BB

Gotta love that bullpen, even without Mahay and Frenchie.

Gagne
did say that this was the best bullpen that he's ever been apart of.

might change his mind now though
Delcarmen-Okajima-Gagne-Papelbon is a pretty devestating way to end a game.

of course so is...

Boston Pen
Yeah, that Red Sox pen is unbelievable. At least right now.

BGL
Should be a starter the rest of the season. Benoit should be closing for now, and setting up for Aki once The Yoshinator is gtg.
Gas, brake, honk. Gas, brake, honk. Honk, honk, punch. Gas, gas, gas.

BGL
Obviously, CJ would have a lot more insight into becoming a starter than I would, but it would seem that it would take time to build up enough arm strength to be a starting pitcher. Maybe we can have him pitch longer outings in the bullpen this year, like Willie Eyer does, to build up the strength and then give him a shot at starter next year in spring training.

That's why
I want him back here. He knows his stuff. If what he says about liking TX is true, I want him to play out his career and coach here.

Like Wagner
I just like the idea of a lefty closer in the ballpark. Seems a good fit.

CJ as CLOSER
He's got my vote!

Loves me some BGL. Hell, I was campaigning for him to get a start along time ago. I still think he could possibly take the hill and start for the Ranngers. I know I'd damn sure like to see him get a chance. But, CJ has made it clear he wants to be the closer.

you got my vote.
96 mph lefty closing out games,  youve really turned it on recently, the last 2 appearances have been money.  they'll be talking about that left handed papelbon-esque kid down in texas if you dont watch out.

ive watched ya for a while, and these last 2 nights show some fortitude and strength im not sure ive seen out of you, certainly not consistently. Its gotta be a new experience, but i think youve handled it well, i cant imagine how games like the last 2 dont draw a manager's attention.

gotta be excited about that, i know i am.  it says a lot that management got rid of mayday and gagne with aki hurt and have confidence and expectations to not skip a beat in the BP.

you and jack bennie have really developed before our eyes, very proud of that.  just dont let it go to your head pull a rocker or a tex heh. as you can see you gotta amp up your K/BB ratio if your gonna be Krod!  heh.

those numbers next to Krod and Boner are friggin greatness though.

.500 or bust!

amazing job CJ
keep it up...you guys have really given us a lot of excitement after such a horrible start and I think if we plug a gap or two in the outfield and find a real sparkplug in the rotation, we'll have a good shot at competing next year
