A-Rod/Tex Similarities

There seem to be a few similarities between A-Rod and Tex:

  1. Great players
  2. Power hitting RBI men
  3. Huge paychecks...the Boras factor
  4. Made some comments that angered fans
  5. The desire to leave Texas and play for a winner
That last similarity lead me to think of the following question:

Which player will have the most number of WS Rings when their career is over.  Poll at the right.

The answer will be provided in about 15 years.

Poll
Who will finish their career with the greatest number of WS Rings?

The difference...
A-Rod didn't have to go anywhere.  The Rangers didn't have much of a choice with Tex

A-Rod
is WAY better than Tex, hands down. But that said, they are similar.

The biggest difference
Arod might be worth the contract he signed.  Teix wont be worth the contract he is seeking.

by DJCahill on Aug 2, 2007 10:49 PM CDT reply actions

Sure
Arod might even win a playoff series oneday.

by Sharky on Aug 2, 2007 11:15 PM CDT up reply actions

Uhhh
The Yankees have won a playoff series with A-Rod. 2004 AL Div. Oh, I get it. A-Rod hasn't single-handedly won a series. Like pitching and playing every position by himself. So you're accurate. I guess.
Well Mr. Burns had done it. The power plant had won it. With Roger Clemens clucking all the while.

#1 is my favorite similarity
That this is true of both of them, and not just one of them individually is indicative of their being the exact same person!

Except one of them has a 'z' in his name and the other one has an 'x'

Forgive me. I've been drinking.

Tex>>>Arod
Especially considering the 3X salary difference and Arod's poor defensive abilities.

LOL
Just realized Tex hit a dinger against the Astros tonight.

And suddenly, AJM and Cahill noticed he's pretty good for the first time.

Just imagine what that dude would do on the Astros. I cant imagine. Would he be held to less than a hundred HR?

ARod is a much better player than Tex
I don't consider them in the same category.  ARod is a true great (on the field, even if he's seemingly a strange guy), surefire 1st ballot HOF'er.  One of the top players ever to play the game.

Tex is a very good player.  But not in the top echelon of players in today's game (he's not there with Pujols, Santana, etc).  Heck, he's even a notch below Reyes, Howard, Guerrero and D.Ortiz among others.  They have a leadership/winning quality that I don't believe he has.  Can't quantify it, so don't ask me to try.

If you asked me who I want on my team right now
It's Tex.

Arod will hit all those empty homers but you wont win.

Except
no one would think to ask a guy who hasn't watched a baseball game in a decade.

Really?
As opposed to all those wins Tex carried the Rangers to?

teix's list=very good 1b

arod's list=soem of the best players ever

arod is hands down much better (obviously)

arod is a once in a generation player. teix is a very good player.

(now all of this is info we already knew, i just went off on a tangent lol sorry)
