Micheal Main 8/20

5 IP 3 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 9SO 1 HR

looks like main totally dominated. nice to see him adjusting and succeeding at the next level.  with a bit of success and luck that puts him on schedule for a full season or slightly less of high A next season.  AA and a bit of AAA in '09.  Im getting ahead of myself, but the kid is impressive.  also thinking about main in high A next season and beaven in AZL is frustrating.  i'd say beaven set himself up for a full season behind main in the long run.  disappointing considering he was bragging about the majors in 3 seasons.  not a beaven rap, i like the kid more than most. but to think we can see main in high A next season possibly, while Beaven is in SS A ball makes me realize how big the signing quickly factor is.  If main keeps it up we're looking at 3 years, 4 tops till he fighting for a spot.

awesome!

9/1 k/bb  very nice.  lone run was a solo bomb.

i doubt Main is in high A next year....
...maybe by the end of next year if he dominates Clinton.

HS school pitchers take a lot longer than college pitchers.  So I'm thinking:

08 Clinton/Bakersfield towards the end of season
09 Bakersfield
10 Frisco
11 Okla - and major league intro.

I think thats probably his schedule but he can change all of that if he flat out dominates.  We can probably see him in 2010 if he does that, but I doubt he will.

Put Mayberry Jr. back at First Base.

main
won't see bakersfield next year. main started at arizona and has now pitched like twice at spokane. not good in the first outing and really good in the second. don't get ahead of yourselves here. kiker pitched pretty well last year at spokane. didn't start the season at clinton. i think he starts the season at clinton next year before any promotion.

main will be similar. he will start the season at extended and get to clinton in late may or early june. no high A for him.

bakersfield should start with poveda, ballard, jones, phillips, and maybe coffman.
possibly reed.
clinton starts with kiker, reed, brigham, castillo, and either holland or quintero.

No way
Kiker goes back to Clinton after his success there this year.

Bakersfield will most likely be Poveda, Phillips, Reed, Kiker and Jones/Ballard. It wouldn't surprise me if Ballard started in Frisco, and I'd be shocked if Main didn't start in Clinton.

Bakersfield
Bakersfield will most likely be Poveda, Phillips, Reed, Kiker and Jones/Ballard.

I'd guess Hunter in the last slot.

That's a pretty impressive rotation.

Ballard
I actually think Ballard will get bumped before year's end.

He's been strong lately, and I know shroom mentioned a recent pre-game radio spot with the pitching coach or manager endorsing him.

Plus who needs Shoemaker in the Frisco rotation?

Most important of all, it'll pave Phillips' way to the Cal league.  Lets watch his start today closely, cause he's begging to move up.  I seriously think a nice start will set some things in motion.

Bakersfield 2008:
Poveda
Kiker
Phillips
Reed
Hunter/Jones

Kiker
Wouldn't surprise at all if he gets a couple starts for Bakersfield in 2007.

I would be
as Clinton is going to the playoffs and I can't see the Rangers taking everyone away from Clinton right before their playoffs begin.

You know, with Spokane red hot, Frisco/Clinton already securing playoff spots and Oklaholma .5 games behind, 4/6 teams might make the playoffs this year in the Rangers system. That's pretty good, considering 2 years ago we had the worst combined minor-league record in the MLB.

Evan Reed
pitched in relief of Michael Main yesterday, according to the boxscore. What on earth does this mean?

Craig Crow
He's wearing Evan Reed's old number - just a roster snafu.

IC
thanks for the heads up.

Heh.
Were you listening?

Dude, you are like big brother with the minors.  Pretty amazing...
