Anyways, he's hit 93,93,93,94 on consecutive pitches. Not bad.
that a boy Gerry !
by NYCMuscleFag on Aug 22, 2007 9:08 PM CDT reply actions
I dunno what to think of our hitters at times.
Cruz up 2-0 and swings at an offspeed pitch in the dirt. Then proceed to strikeout.
I know im nitpicking after a 20 run game but stuff like that really discourages me. At least Laird went opposite field for a hit.
by kumar75150 on Aug 22, 2007 9:09 PM CDT reply actions
Metcalf???
No
Let's not blow our loads on small samples gentlemen.
im not
thats a tough call... but I'd do it..
by NYCMuscleFag on Aug 22, 2007 9:13 PM CDT up reply actions
Metcalf
He was awful in AAA.
And he hasn't hit that well in the majors.
I'm not sure why you'd make him your everyday 3B right now.

Eddie V should be pitching right now
loogy and long man? sure. nothing wrong with being part of a mlb staff. but the guys not a mlb starter, so put someone in that may be.
well i guess this is the record for runs ..
by NYCMuscleFag on Aug 22, 2007 9:30 PM CDT reply actions
baseball tonight said 43
i of course believe lewin said 41 though. who knows. i hope its 41, i want the record. even getting 42 would be fairly unlikely though.
oh ok thanks..well we better.
by NYCMuscleFag on Aug 22, 2007 9:33 PM CDT up reply actions
You know, Josh...
Because anyone who'd email you about that probably would just go to any of the many websites that would show the score from earlier today, and see for themselves.

by hurlerhurley on Aug 22, 2007 9:59 PM CDT up reply actions
what the hell are you talking about
talking about the double header record is certainly part of this game.
but even if we were talking 100% about 30-3... uh, hello, this is a dead season that has been TERRIBLE the past few games with getting completely beat down by pitchers, and then we set a record. thats worth of a weeks discussion, let alone talking about it a couple hours later.
Thank you DSheppard

so is kinsler officially fixed defensively?
not gold glove worthy, but he seems like hes been at least average since hes been back.

Laird & Strikes
someone should count?
Go Rangers!
haha
by hurlerhurley on Aug 22, 2007 10:46 PM CDT up reply actions
benoit was very good
nowe weve got the problem of someone sucky pitching the 8th inning unless the rangers re-take the lead here (in which case id imagine they would see if benoit can get through it).
OK Botts time to redeem yourself for all the ..

sammy hitting a HR would really top this off.
although i realize sammy hitting a 98 mph fastball out or that slider is about 1 in 500.

had fun gameday guys, good 7 hours or whatever.
39 runs. wow.
This is about to be one of the best..
by NYCMuscleFag on Aug 22, 2007 11:30 PM CDT reply actions
Yep...
best 8 hours
1996
Oh, I'm definitely enjoying it,
Individual Stats
yeah the thing that made that game 100x better
it was really great to see all them guys have big games and we only had 2 pitchers in that game, one started and got the win and the other pitched 3 innings and got the save.......I know i'll remember this forever........talk about the most unexpected lineup to pull that off lol and we got the pitching to go with it..........
and to top it off the second game was a good one, we came back and won it, Benoit and CJ came up huge....and Metcalf, what the hell happened to this guy? lol
this was close to the best day of baseball for me, mostly because it was a FULL day of baseball, 8 Hours!!!! and again, how fun was it to see the young guys come through? but 8 hours and every minute of it, was great.....
That's right
by Dustin on Aug 22, 2007 11:48 PM CDT up reply actions
Look at it this way
Every year some team wins a division. Now, even, six teams win a division.
So in terms of significance, this night stands alone, and it's the Rangers doing the standing. In terms of accomplishment, then I agree team wins and division, league, and world series titles trump it.
My bet is this double header, with the 30 run game, gets more record book attention than any team that doesn't at least four-peat at the WS level.
by Ed Coffin on Aug 23, 2007 12:00 AM CDT up reply actions
I just had to look up
Hilarious stat of the night....
sure glad he came through in a key moment to perserve the W
save
by Randy Richardson on Aug 22, 2007 11:58 PM CDT reply actions
eh
obviously its a meaningless save, but i dont think its a big deal. but yes, it wouldnt exactly be a problem if it was ended.
anyway i was watching sportcenter and they showed clips of 6-8 other broadcast teams looking at the scoreboard and reacting to it. good stuff.
Best Night in Recent Ranger History
What a night for America.
