Ozzie Guillen flips out

Ozzie Guillen went berzerk after the game last night.

I can't even try to highlight his craziness...you just have to read it for yourself...

good teams find ways to win slopfests like last night... what was it?... four errors last night?... three by the pitching staff?...

... and we still won. are the rangers a good team?... eh... they're better than they were. they're not the angels. but, we won... and i hope we sweep 'em tonight.

that team won a ring two years ago.

I'd Just Like Something More Than Miss Manners

I think I'd be self-loathing if the Rangers had some gasbag like Guillen for a manager. I don't want crazy, but I would like to see a manager that's going to stand up for his players more than Wash has this season.

For example, look at the Kinsler play at 2nd from the first game of this series...it looked like Kinsler looked around for a manager or a base coach or someone to back him up when he was called out but was actually safe and he got nothing.

I know that's not a completely fair assessment since on that same play Metcalf pulled up lame on the way to first. At the same time, I've watched time and time again when there's a close play on the field and Wash just hangs out on the dugout rail checking everything out instead of standing up for his guys.

there like three days in a row a month or so ago that Wash came out to question calls? Didn't he get quick triggered in a game a week or so ago after Young got quick triggered and then continue to give the umpire an ear full? I don't think you could find a player in that locker room that questions Washington's loyalty. Did he not back down when Teixeira threw a fit over being given a take sign? Teixeira sure couldn't seem to get over it.

That's unprofessional. I'd feel sold out if I was a White Sox player. Can't be good for the mood in the clubhouse.

It's hard to argue that Ozzie hasn't quit when he refuses to get Jermaine Dye off the bench or find a way to get any right-handed pitcher into the game against Sammy Sosa in an extra inning game. Either he doesn't care, or he's incompetent. Take your pick.

I think he has every right to call his players out IF he thinks he has done everything he can do. Can anyone name somebody, besides maybe Bobby Cox, who could have managed this team better?

In my mind, a lefty should be able to get Sosa out most of the time, if you are assuming he is going to play up to his potential and you want to see him pitch a little deeper into the game, in case it goes into extra innings like it happened to do, why not let him pitch to Sosa.

In case you haven't noticed

Sosa has been absolutely destroying lefties this year. For all his troubles versus righties, he is .327/.415/.596 versus lefties.

Personally, I have no idea why he hasn't been picked up as a platoon bat.

but as a manager are you going to set a precident on a young arm that you believe in that he cant pitch to a tough right-handed hitter? If you dont give him a chance, hows he going to prove he can get right-hand hitters out? Same thing with Boggs and his splits, Platoon him so he can hit exclusively from one side or let him work it out? I dont know if the guy pitching was a situational lefty or not. But what if hes a lefty that can give you an inning or two regularly out of the pen? Thats all my point was.

I dont think I've called out any of our young guys. I'm ready lose next year for the opportunity to really see what we have here and who's going to contribute regularly in 09. I kind of see them all in the same position as Laird in spring-training. You get your shot and have until the all-star break to prove you are a part of the long-term plan, because we are going to win in 09

Im not ready to lose but I am ready for everyone whose borderline in our future plans to get a shot so we arent all bitching about next year's Botts. And if it means some xtra losses then I'm game. But I really think this team is going to suprise us this tear.

It was really bad, but not as bad as I thought it would be. Better than Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, at least. I still haven't brought myself to see Clerks II.

I think that the pinnacle of achievement for Kevin Smith and co. is the commentary on the DVD of Mallrats. Completely hilarious. Basically it's 8 of them ripping on Smith, the movie, Shannon Dougherty, etc. Jason Mewes is unbelievably high through the whole thing and keeps falling asleep and excusing himself to by snacks from the vending machine. Comedic gold.

was actually pretty funny, naturally not as good as the first but i liked it.

then again i also liked jay and silent bob strike back and all the dick and fart jokes. oddly enough mallrats is my least favorite.

I personally loved Clerks II...

Smith was obviously trying to appeal to a wider audience with it, but it's actually my favorite movie of his. The original Clerks was brilliant, but I've always felt the dialogue in it was a little too forced. Mallrats is great. Chasing Amy didn't do much for me. There are only a couple of movies I've ever hated more than Dogma. Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back was amusing, and Jersey Girl was better than anticipated, but any movie (SPOLIER ALERT) that kills off Jennifer Lopez in the first few minutes gets bonus points in my book.

Now, back to Clerks II... Jason Mewes' tribute to Silence of the Lambs (my All-Time favorite movie) is, simply put, one of the funniest moments in film history, IMO.

Clerks 2

I had to keep rewinding the movie while watching it, because I was laughing so hard over the dialogue. The scenes that really got me were Randal's analysis of Lord of the Rings (particularly the part about Sam & Frodo being gay) and the discussion in the car about Dante masturbating at work. The extended version of that conversation (on the deleted scenes) was so funny I nearly choked to death laughing.

I haven't seen Jersey Girl or Mallrats, but I've liked all his other films, even Dogma, which I know a lot of people hated.
