Seriously??

So I really love college football and everything about my university, but I don't think I would rip a guy's balls off in my alma mater's name. If these people take the rivalry so seriously I think it is time for them ato reassess life. Umm WOW

my fav part
"My client is a little man, and this guy (Thomas) is 30 to 40 pounds bigger than him," Bock said. "He's bigger, stronger, younger and probably faster, and he aggressively leaned in and touched my client and threatened to beat him up. ... My guy was defending himself and just took control of the situation."

Thomas' attorney disputes Beckett's version.

"That's total malarkey," Hughes said. "My client never said a word to him. He got up to pay and when he paid and left a tip, the guy grabbed him."

----

i dont give a damn if the guy is a foot taller than you and 100 lbs heavier...is grabbing another guy by the sac acceptable for self defense?

re
>>Like Beckett and Thomas, many fans of the two college squads never attended either university, but have come to identify so closely with these teams that they attach banners to their cars, wear team colors on game day and even have programmed their car horns to play school fight songs.>>

Yeah um, that's really retarded, if you think about it. The whole point of all that alleged college passion is "that's my school!" or something.

Of course, I'm a Miami fan. However, in my case I think it's different, Miami is just a BADASS team, with super badass team colors asnd nickname, unlike other teams, so, it's just a different scenario. I can be excused, besides I'm not that passionate.

At least I went to Fresno State
and I have family that went to Florida and UCLA.

What if
Your school had no football team? Are you exempt from that rule?

I root for Texas, since UTA is part of the UT system, and Alabama, since I was born there.

My parents graduated from Augusta State University, which has no team either, but Dad attended Mississippi State for a year, so that's his team.

"Then I met some friends for a beer, went to a BoDeans's concert, and son of a vondruke, if I didn't leave him at the concert hall."

Yah
My alma mater has no team, so I root for North Texas, since I grew up in Denton and my Dad was a proff there.

Hopefully when I go to grad school next year I'll go somewhere with a team.

The 40 trumps all!

I just
harass "my blood runs school colors" fans when it's opportune.  I went to the U. of Colorado, then Indiana State, then the USAF Institute of Technology.  Two have scandals, the third only has stripes.  What a world!  :))

What happened at Indiana State?
Colorado is obvious with Slick Rick Neuheisel and then the rape stuff under Barnett.

Hiring president's with false credentials, nepotism in the Athletic Department, followed by private firings (the Trib Star just printed so and so has left ISU and will take a position at (you name it) Division III school.  Then an apparently not merited hiring of a lady as athletic director who cut budgets for football and basketball and increased baseball and women's basketball (and the team fortunes followed).

In short, politics and a depressed local economy.

Did you go to the U. of Colorado?
I thought it was CU? Boulder or where?

Yes
Officially the University of Colorado, but all logos and memorabilia show CU.  Right, Boulder.

Team choice...
I grew up in Arkansas, so I've been a Razorback fan all my life. Never went to school in Fayetteville, but that doesn't affect my passion for the school's teams the least bit.

On the other hand, I will be going to OU next year, but I'll be damned if I have the tiniest amount of Sooner pride even while going to school there.
