OT: ACL Fest
Anyone else going? I'm going to head out of here shortly to head down. People have started to really hate on it and complain about it in Austin, but I always have a blast. The White Stripes cancelled unfortunately, but there are plenty of other good bands playing. Bob Dylan headlining on Sunday night is going to be cool, but he'll have a tough time following up Tom Petty in that slot last year. Looking forward to Blonde Redhead, Spoon, The Reverend Horton Heat, and Bjork today.

Crap
Bjork
whoa
yeah
If i remember right he claimed to have sent her a bomb. I think dateline did this story like 5yrs ago or somewhere around there
The story
"The year got worse before it got better. A 24-year-old Miami fan, in love and enraged that Björk was then dating a black man, filmed himself building an acid bomb inside a hollowed-out book. The man, Ricardo Lopez, mailed the package to her London home, shaved, put a Björk song on the stereo and took his head off with a pistol. Police intercepted the bomb before it got to Björk's home. Shocked, Björk took Sindri (her son) to Spain -- after sending flowers and a card to the dead man's parents."
Bob Dylan

Dylan
Solid set, but some of my favorite songs sounded like beer commercials with the bluesy arrangements. I enjoyed it, though.
Then saw him last summer in Cooperstown, at the baseball yard. Started real slow, but got better as his guitarist got warmer. One thing about that set, it was pretty freaking loud...
Jimmy Vaughn opened and could not have played a more formulaic blues set. Total snooze. Junior Brown was on the bill, too, and he was superb. I've always enjoyed him, going back to Sons of Hermann Hall shows.

And ditto on Huntressa's Hermann Hall endorsement, too. Saw the great Billy Joe Shaver there, among others. The world needs more places like SOHH.
My internet impression of Bob Dylan singing live:
bew bewl, de vad eh bebarumff,
efowl, efowl, bew newldewl, ohhh,
ohh ohh ohh ohh fah fah bew bewda kakumfff,
yes, bew bewl, bew bewl, ohhh, yes bewl, ohh...

I wanted to go down there for that
whoa
There was also a propane explosion and a couple people were hurt pretty seriously. Kind of casts a pall over the whole thing.
arcade fire
I feel sorry...
Arcade Fire vs. Muse
Spoon was great, as always. If you've never seen them live, you have to check them out. They really put on a good show. The new album is good, too.
For me the highlight remains Bjork. Yo La Tengo was a second, then Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, and MMJ. Devotchka, Spoon, the Decembrists were great, too. And I loved Dylan, but as I said, I'm just a fan, what can I say?
