If Georgia wins big...
...then how is it a great game?  (unless you are a Georgia fan)

I hope Hawaii wins (not that I'm expecting it).

Well, Florida State
actually played some damn good football considering all the injuries they've had and those suspensions of some 30 players from that academic cheating scandal thing they had.

I took Kentucky
but, seriously I was a bit worried that FSU might try and pull the win off. My Point is that FSU with the loss of all those starters they damn sure came out to play. Your wife shouldnt feel to bad about her Florida State Seminoles. They played a pretty damn good game considering

Game starts soon
We have several friends over tonight for the game. Mostly my wifes friends of course.

Must be close to 30 people here at my house tonight.

Hey...I have an idea... I'll just go upstairs to my office and get on the computer sometime during the game.

Happy New Year LSB.

I just hope this game is better than the Rose Bowl
Were they serious picking Illinois to play against USC?

Jesus that game sucked right from the start.

Once USC got healthy they were one of the true elite teams in CFB.

It should've been them vs. LSU in the title game.

The best part about...
...bowl game blowouts...

Is when the game is out of hand late, and players start showboating and getting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, resulting in the announcers getting all righteously indignant...

Illinois
was overrated the entire year...

Oklahoma>USC

It should have been Oklahoma and LSU...

Should have been............
Mizzou in the BCS instead of Kansas, Illinois, or that fraud team from Hawaii.

Also, the BCS didn't want to give us USC vs OU because let's say USC would have beaten OU by 30. Then let's say LSU pulls another miracle/lucky win out against a VERY overrated OSU team.  BCS didn't want to give the chance for the AP to vote anyone as #1 except for the team that wins their BCS title game.

So that's why we get awful games like OU vs West Virginia, USC vs Illinois, and Georgia vs that fraud Hawaii

Welcome to Division I football, Colt Brennan.   That wasn't Idaho you played tonight.

especially when...
...you make ridiculous, baseless statements about Ron Paul's candidacy.  He's a bigot who doesn't believe in evolution.  And his commodity-centric economic policies belong in the same century as his other backwards thoughts.  I did enjoy him on Meet the Press though.  Only because of how it proves that Huckabee and Romney aren't the only crazies running for the Republican nomination.

Digging
up a 1992 article that is probably taken out of text...

You want to know who a biggot is?  Huckabee is the one that compares pedofiles to homosexuals.

Giuliani is the worst candidate there is...

And Hillary is an IRS puppet that wants to add social programs to make our debt worse and raise taxes...

But think
about this...

How many yards would Tebow have in Hawaii's offense?

Brennen is a system QB, if you put him in Florida's system and the competition they face he would be a Casey Dick clone.  But not as bad ofcourse... :)

Maybe but think back
When was the last good Florida qb in the NFL? I know Tebow could break through I just don't think he will make a good NFL qb maybe at another position but not qb.

Two Words
Alex Smith.

by Longhorn on Jan 1, 2008 9:05 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Smith
and Tebow are very different.  As far as running goes, Smith was a fast, finesse runner; Tebow is a much more of a power runner.  Alex Smith does not have much arm strength, and Tebow has a pretty strong arm.  Smith is a little more accurate, but overall, they are two totally different prospects.

Colt Brennan
Colt is nothing more than Kliff Kingsbury, Andre Ware, David Klingler, Graham Harrell, Danny Wuerffel, Ty Detmer, etc.   And at least all those guys played against legit competition during their college years. Not like Hawaii does. For the record, I don't think Tebow will be a great pro, but at least in the SEC, every week he's playing against a few guys who will be NFL players some day.

I enjoyed the game.  Hawaii and Brennan got exposed.  Hell, Brennan's backup played much much better than Colt did.   Hope the NFL teams are smart enough to let him go undrafted.

Two things I love about college FB
The clock rules are such running the ball is actually a viable strategy, which it hasn't been for years in the NFL. Love it.

There are actually such things as talent differences. Georgia>Hawaii for instance.

by Sharky on Jan 1, 2008 10:09 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I hate the clock rules.............
Stopping the clock after every 1st down is ridiculous.  That's why games take 5 hours.  Same goes for someone running out of bounds.   In the NFL, if you run out of bounds with 12:34 to go in the 1st quarter, the official spots the ball and they wind the damn clock.  That's the way it should be.

by Hard8 on Jan 2, 2008 12:29 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

i'm starting to feel sorry for them. It's like the United States Mighty Ducks vs. Iceland. Someone's going to get hurt...

Colt Brennan
Where was he draft projected? I think it was only like 3rd round before today.

But right or wrong, the NFL must look at this game for Colt and cringe. Tough for the guy.

by Sharky on Jan 1, 2008 10:52 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

He should
have gone to the draft last year...  He would have been a early second.

But so should have Brian Brohm...

Some
had him projected as a 1st round prospect.  I never had him that high, but his stock will plummet similar to what happened to Troy Smith last year.  I can't see him going before the 6th round at best.

Georgia's fans, players...
and their coach acted like a bunch of jack-asses during this game. Nothing but a bunch of BS  intimidation tactics.

That said I wish someone on Georgia would have hit #29 for Hawaii and knocked him into next week. After that cheap shot that gave the Geogia player a concussion on the opening punt return. He still kept running his mouth all game like he actually did something. Taking a cheap shot at a defenseless punt returners head is the definition of chicken-shit.
