Name that Pen

TR Sullivan describes the possible make up of the bull pen with the new addition of "Every Now and Again" Eddie:

"Guardado and Wilson are expected to hold down two spots in the Rangers' seven-man bullpen. Fukumori and right-hander Joaquin Benoit also have two spots locked up, according to Daniels. Fukumori is coming off elbow surgery but is expected to be ready for Spring Training.

That leaves three spots open. Right-hander Frank Francisco, who was 1-1 with a 4.55 ERA in 59 games for the Rangers last season, has the inside track on one job, but is not a lock. Other candidates include right-handers Wes Littleton, Scott Feldman, Josh Rupe, Kameron Loe, Robinson Tejeda and Jason Davis and left-hander John Rheinecker."

So fill out the pen:

LHP Guardado
LHP Wilson
RHP Fukumori
RHP Joaquin Benoit

You just know
they're gonna add a LOOGY, though.

I think Wes is the odd man out, in favor of Rheinacker.

I would hope not...
Wes and Frankie can be very good. I think Guardado/BGL and be the LOOGY in the 7th/8th innings. Anytime before that I wouldn't worry about matchups. I would hate to see one of them lose their spot on the team for Rheino.

Hmmmm...
Definitely Frankie and Littleton (he was lights out in 2006 and outside of a terrible 8 2/3 IP in June was really good last season)...and probably Rupe  as a long man.

I hate giving up on Loe, because everytime I've met the guy he seems like a really good person.  At this point though he's had 313 IP and put up a 4.92 ERA while struggling with consistency (the guys splits are very odd), and injuries.  I think it might be time to move on...

I expect either Rheino or Tejeda to be cut with the Jennings and Guardado signings.

Bill White
cleared waivers and the club is trying to negotiate a minor league deal for him.

Why haven't you mentioned the electrician?
We signed him to a minor league deal.  Also they need a true lefty specialist and  John Rheinecker.  Of course I want wes in there but if he has options then I say use them.  I see wes as someone they could send out to pitch in the 6, 7, or 8th inning.  And Frankie Frank fits that same description.  So the two of them will be competeing for that spot.  I would probably add a long R.P.  Loe and Tejeda both fit that role so that means more competition.

Last three spots

Electrician/Loe/Tejeda
Rheinecker/White????
Frankie Frank/Wessy Wes

Correction
Forgot that Eddie was a lefty.  He feels a good role because he can take on both lefty and righty batters so I think he definitly trumps Rheinecker.  So I'd take 2 long relief role pitchers and one of FX2/Wes.

Loe, Francisco, and Rheino
Gives you two guys that could stretch out if needed and two lefties aside from the closer.

If the weather holds ...
... the sked won't demand a fifth starter until April 14th.
So, you might factor in that extra 2 weeks of wiggle-room.
