OT: Mexican Honeymoon
Getting married in May and wondering if anybody has recommendations for a good Mexican beach for a honeymoon destination. We would prefer quaint over touristy, small cantinas over happening nightclubs, local street markets over Gucci outlets, strolling cobblestone streets and dining at family owned eateries over spa treatments and buffet lines, etc. She's not really the adventurous sort, so Scuba diving, jungle treks, and sport fishing excursions won't be on the agenda. Affordability is also a key concern. I guess we would prefer to spend most of our time (4-5 days) relaxing beachside, some shopping and a jeep tour or something like that, maybe couple of nights out checking out the local scene, and plenty of time in a comfortable, but not pretentious, cabana.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It doesn't
If you're looking for something beautiful and quaint, do yourself a favor and go to Campeche. Muy muy linda. If you want to go to a beach, that's the place, in my mind. Otherwise, you could stay in Mérida, which is close to Progresso.

Sounds like you two
Definately not a typical touristy locale.

Rockies
I'd go for Taos NM, instead of the northern rockies.
Austing Haus is an awesome place to stay in the summer. Get a room with a fireplace... you'll still need it in June. The drive around the "enchanted circle" is great. Plenty of hiking. Santa Fe is an hour+ away. On the bad side, there isn't much else open at that time of year.
Colorado is more geared up for the summer tourists. Dillon/Frisco/Silverthorne will give you tons of options.
Durango Colorado has less to offer than Dillon, but it gains the Durango to Silverton railroad. It's the train they used to shoot parts of Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid. And, you can see the Mesa Verde cliff dwellings from this part of the state.

Congrats my friend,
I recommend going through an agent, whether its through the internet or face to face. They will find you the best possible deals and open your eyes to other locations within your budget. I went through vactionstogo.com. I would highly recommend them.
For the price of a seven night trip to Cancun, you could have a very secluded honeymoon in the carribean.

If only I had the money,
I suggest you look into other destinations Tricer, but if Mexico is what you two want then Mexico is what you should have.

Yep I've heard great things ...
about P. V. I'm going in April. I can't wait. If you want to get a general feel of P.V. you can watch the movie "Night of the Iguana" shot back in the 60's in P.V. Of course it's changed a lot since then but you can see the beauty of the beaches and coastline and all that.

Lots of good info and in the forums there is good advice on awesome local places to eat, how to handle cab fare, anything really. It was a lot of help for me when I was planning this thing.

Zihuatanejo
I believe the hotel recently changed their name. Very small and off the beaten path. I sse the rates have changed..and not for the better! It was rather cheap when we went there....

Mexican Honeymoon
It sounds like something you'd have to talk a hooker into doing to you.
Something involving feces, perhaps.
I just started dating a new girl, maybe I'll ask her to give me a Mexican Honeymoon, just to kind of test her limits.

Contrats Tricer
Now about the term "Mexican honeymoon". Fact is, years ago it's what GI's from Del Rio, San Antonio, Ft. Hood and etc called any stay longer than two hours in Ciudad Acuna (Villa Acuna to the familiars). Hearing it now is hilarious~ :))

Did I ever tell you about the time
It didn't help that she wasn't particularly attractive, but I likely would have stuck with it long enough to at least have sex with her vagina if she hadn't gotten all bubbly with joy when describing why that turd was her favorite movie of all time.
I made an excuse, hugged her, left, and never returned any more of her phone calls.
You might think I'm kidding.
I'm not.

Have you seen this:
Just watched it the other night. Best thing I've seen all year. Great ending that you never see coming, as well.
Didn't get to catch Michael Clayton, though. It played here for a day and a half before they replaced it w/ Scary Movie 6.
And no. I knew you weren't kidding.

Lives of Others is freaking fantastic
They're re-realeasing Mickey Clayton so you get another shot. It's damn good. Tom Wilkinson is awesome in that flick. (He's been good in a lot of shit actually, but he's especially good in this.)
Oh and There Will Be Blood finally got released in my podunk theater this week! I'm working several people in an effort to recruit someone to go with me, but so far I haven't had any luck. I don't really have any true film lover friends so securing a partner for an "art house" flick is always tough for poor Huntress...:(

I have a great website I went through for the booking. Looks like we'll all be married men soon enough. Damn, we're getting old.
