Rangers Winter Caravan

Just thought I'd post an FYI. The Rangers winter caravan hits frisco today.

They will be at the Dr. Pepper ballpark 1:30- 3pm today.

From the website:

"Saturday, January 19 marks the sixth annual visit to Dr Pepper Ballpark by the Texas Rangers Round Up Winter Caravan. Frisco RoughRiders fans can take this opportunity to choose a ticket plan and select their seats for the upcoming season in addition to getting autographs from some of their favorite Rangers.

The gates will open at 1:00 PM and RoughRiders sales staff will be on hand to assist fans in selecting their seats.

Rangers scheduled to appear include Ian Kinsler, Wes Littleton, Travis Metcalf, Kevin Millwood, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and Jim Sundberg. The RoughRiders mascot, Deuce, will be at the event to meet fans and take pictures. Fans can also enjoy hot dogs and beverages that will be for sale at the concession stand. There will also be tours of the RoughRiders clubhouse available for fans.

The autograph session will take place from 1:30-3:00 PM and will be held in The First Horizon Club -- the team's exclusive, members only bar and restaurant. "

Whats funny,
is they call it winter caravan.  Being from Roch-cha-cha, NY when I hear or think winter I think of 30 MPH winds with a temp below 20 and lake effect snow.  God I wish I could be at their version of winter.  Im cold as I write this.

Iced Out?
They were suppose to be here in Abilene today, but apparently the weather was too bad.  It didn't seem to slow anyone else down today.  Winter caravan my...  I kid, I understand.  You don't want to take any chances with your players lives, unless it may give them a little extra pop in the bat or a shorter recovery time between outings. :)

My 4 year old son said it best, "This is sad news."

I took him for hot chocolate instead.  I thought about getting Starbucks guy to sign a baseball for us, but thought better of it.

Really?
Well, I don't even know which guys were going to be there.  Last year Abilene had Wes Littleton, Rick Bauer, and Eric Nadel.  Two years before that it was Ron Mahay, Ryan Shouse and Tom Grieve.  It was cool to meet Tom Grieve.  Personally, I just enjoy meeting the guys and getting an autograph for my son.  It has always been cool because the crowd is always like 4 or 5 people so it is really relaxed.  Not like meeting Ian Kinsler or Hank Blalock in Arlington.  All people mentioned were very friendly, except Hank.  He wasn't unfriendly, just very quiet and all business.  I can't say I could blame him.  90+ degrees, outside, in front of a Racetrac gas station, on a game day?  Yeah I think I would have to work really hard to put a smile on.
