Brandon Inge is mad

Apparently Inge doesn't get why the Tigers chose to bring in Miguel Cabrera as their new 3B, relegating Inge to utility duties.

I understand the concept of pride and having confidence in your abilities, but this is just stupid.

Brandon Inge sucks.

Miguel Cabrera juga beisbol muy, muy bueno.

Case closed.

Inge reporting with catchers
They are hoping he remembers how to call games. If he does, he'll be Pudge's replacement after 2009(?) He'll need to put on some weight, too.

Stockton
That is a rough place.

Slc - where did you grow up?

by tlt29 on Jan 28, 2008 6:13 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Manteca...
right between Stockton and Modesto. Manteca wasn't bad, but yeah Stockton and Modesto can be rough.

When we first moved there my mom and I went to a mall in Stockton at night...it was the last time she went to Stockton at night.

Oakwood Lake Resort
I spent a ton of time out there as a kid. Grandparents took me and my brother out there from San Jose every summer. Too bad the waterslides are no more.

I like that they named a town the Spanish term for 'lard'.

Yep...
went to the waterslides a lot growing up...good times. Now just a bunch of big houses.

Nothing like growing up in lard...I know after I learned Spanish I always thought that was a odd name for a city. Of course Modesto is anything but 'modest'.

Si
Es un 'typo'.

Como se dice 'typo' in Espanol?

Yo no hablo Espanol en diez y siete anos (years, not anuses).

Es errata.
Y también se dice:

Hace 17 años que hablé el español.

La gramática se puede ser muy difícil.

Good spanish
Nice spanish. Every accent is where it should be.

Not to get nitpicky, though, but it sounds better if you say:
Hace 17 años que no hablo español (no need for an "el")
or: No he hablado español desde hace 17 años.

Also, you can eliminate the "se" from the second sentence. "Me", "Te", "Nos", "Os" and "Se" are kind of tricky.

Well
Not to get nitpicky with you, but if you eliminate the se you're changing the meaning. In this case I'm using se to indicate "itself".

Granted, I didn't learn my Spanish in a classroom, but that's how it's spoken in my house.

Though I would say that "no he hablado español desde hace 17 años" is something I would say, probably more than hace que.

Thanks for your corrections, though.  My Spanish is relegated to conversations with friends and family, and grammatical insight is always welcome.

speaking of Cabrera
Why wouldn't the Tigers play him at first and Guillen at third? Seems like their IF defense would be better that way, right?

...umm
miggy cabrera: career ops+ of 143 and had a 150 OPS+ last year

brandon inge: career ops+ of 85 and had and 80 OPS+ last year.

he didnt say it was a bad trade and he was better
he just said he was unhappy because he wants to play everyday.

any player worth anything would be.

Brandon Inge
isn't worth anything, though, which makes his input irrelevant.

Perhaps he should warn the Tigers
that if he isn't named the starter he'll go into "Operation Shutdown"
