Red River Shootout
What a game!
I much prefer nail-biter games to the lopsided blowouts of the past. Last year's game and today's game have surely renewed this rivalry.
Congrats to the Horns on "upsetting" #1 OU. Jordan Shipley is a beast.
Congrats to the Sooners on hanging 35 on Muschamp's defense.
Solid performances by both QBs. The officiating was horrible, but I think it's a wash in the end, not favoring either side.

Excellent game
I was just going to post an open thread since no one else had, then my screen refreshed and i saw this.
that was one of the best tx/ou games in recent years. Now to see who comes out being #1 and #2 after tonight.
Next week could quite possibly be #1 vs #2 in austin.

I give props to Texas
The refs sucked on both sides of the ball today but the Sooners D is bad. Congrats Longhorns. Good luck with Mizzou.

Where do you think OU ends up?
They’re too good to not go to a BCS game, I would think.

Depends on how MIzzou does.
If they make it undefeated to the Big 12 Championship game and lose to UT (assuming Texas didn’t lose any other games), they would be the second team.
In the very possible event that Texas loses 2 more games and it’s OU-Mizzou in the Big 12 Championship game, then OU could feasibly make a BCS game if they don’t win the Big 12.

they were horrible on both sides i agree. it all started when they didnt even review OU’s first touchdown and it was plain as day he was down, you could see it as the play was happening even.

bad calls went all directions, like some of those personal foul calls when they hit mccoy, then that freaking ridiculous roughing the kicker call. I dont think i’ve seen a worse roughing the kicker call in my life.

That was a good call
Just like a receiver has to control the ball throughout the entirety of the catch a defender must maintain control all the way through. As soon as he hit the ground the ball came out which is the definition of not maintaining control throughout. The fact that both referees who were there made the same call (incomplete) as soon as it happened makes me feel better about them not reviewing it.

We better be worried about all of them.
This is the Big XII, and just because we beat OU doesn’t mean that we won’t lose to someone else if we have a bad day.
We’ve gotta play every game like we did today, and if we do, absolutely no one will beat us. No one.

when you think about it, OSU is probably the weak team in Texas’ 4 game schedule of OU, Mizzou, OSU, and Tech (though the Raiders are doing a pretty good job of trying to prove me wrong today). It could very easily be a trap game.

Hey OU
Might wanna learn how to play defense. Assholes looked like KU out there. I mean you just let people go by you, stood off the line, CONSISTENTLY let white guys beat you all day. That is simply unacceptable in my eyes.
So many DB’s could of stepped right infront of those patterns, but they were playing back and zone like pussies. Hell get a man and stick with him. Disgusting.

What a game!
I seriously can’t believe I was lucky enough to have been there. I had the time of my life, and the game was phenomenal.
Congrats to OU on a fantastic game, especially the performance by Sam Bradford and his exceptional WR’s. You guys could be equally as awesome next season, if not better.
However, I MUST give some credit to four Longhorns:
- Colt McCoy: What an awesomely played game. No picks, no fumbles, just good, hard, well-played football. The kid is UT’s leader for a reason.
- Jordan Shipley: The dude just went off today. 96 yards on a KO return for a TD, and 112 yds. receiving with a TD. He is, without a doubt, a baller.
- Chris Ogbonnaya: He stepped up when we needed it most. Say hello to our new starting RB this season, UT fans.
- Will Muschamp: The guy may not have had a shutout brewing or anything, but he did enough with his game plan and defensive talent on the sidelines to call a game worthy of holding (yes, HOLDING) OU to 35 points. As good as they were today, I believe that’s saying something.
What a fantastic day, game and atmosphere. I’m pretty sure this is going to have me on a spiritual high until… oh… next Saturday.

Quick story
I spent the afternoon along the Red River Valley [pics forthcoming]. Anyway, I drove back home along I-35 coming south outta Gainsville. Just north of Valley View, along the northbound service road, about 2 dozen UT guys had erected a huge “TEXAS LONGHORNS” sign and put up banners and pennants. As the forlorn OU vehicles would pass going home north on I-35 the UT guys would go apesh!t jeering them, jumping up and down and waving their beers at them. It was hilarious – triumphalism in full bloom. I wish I woulda got some pics but I wasn’t driving.

No he won't
He had about 6 weeks after he was hired to recruit in 2006. His first season he was playing with the previous coaches players. In a completely different system with guys who weren’t tailored to it. This year was his first true year to recruit. All those guys are redshirting or are freshmen. Its gonna take a few years but once he gets that roster full of his players and guys who fit his system they will win. Plus now with the addition of June Jones to the metroplex he is fighting for recruits really hard. He has to deal with the big boys in Texas, OU, Tech, OSU and then the local heavyweights in TCU and now SMU with Jones. North Texas doesn’t exactly have the tradition or facilities that any of those other schools do so he is fighting an uphill battle. He has ins with just about every high school in the state due to his success at SLC. He will turn that program around but its gonna take a few years.

Just watched the game after being out of the country all weekend. Tivo is like the best thing ever. Incredible game, I’m so pumped for Mizzou already. My dad’s coming in town and he and I are going together, he went to Texas in the early 70s so he’s pretty rabid as well.
