NFL/Cowboys
Welp, three of the five brain surgeons (Berman, Ditka, Keyshawn) on ESPN picked the Cards today. Line is Dallas -4.5. The Giants and Skins have virtual walkovers today, so it would be very nice to win.
I'm a little fascinated with what the Raiders do against the Saints today. Do they lose by 4 TDs by throwing it deep every play?

And now for the “Nobody cares about your fantasy team” question of the week:
I had the following 4 running backs: LT, Forte, Turner and Ronnie Brown
Which two should I have started?

Good grief
Four of the top eight ranked teams are from the Big 12 South. Four of the top eight teams in a six team division, has that ever happened at any point?
Overall, 6 of the top 16 for the league. The SEC is down to 4 of the top 20 (2, 5, 10.,13).

historically, IMO
big 12 has always been underrated and the SEC has always been overrated.

Think it might take
a loss this week to convince Jerry?
by Brett Perryman on Oct 12, 2008 1:12 PM CDT up reply actions
Jerry is a smart man
he knows the defense is not that good, he needs to get as many weapons on the offensive side and Roy is perfect to take the doubles away from TO…
This is a no-brainer for me, give away a late 1st rounder for him…we’re stocked with picks next year anyways…
TO is old, won’t play much longer…what are we going to do, wait till free agency? Draft? We need an impact WR now and for the future, and with Detroit coming out saying they are wanting/wiling to trade Roy, this is Jerry’s best opportunity to get him…and probably not for THAT much…

My concern at this point
is exactly what you’d get out of him for this season. His role at the moment probably wouldn’t be terribly complicated, but the history of WRs obtained during the season isn’t too hot.

Chambers is kind of a convenient memory
since he’s the exception and basically a best case scenario, but yeah, he at least would give me hope that you could integrate a veteran deep threat guy into this offense – which is obviously pretty similar – very quickly. I’d still be concerned about it, though.

Well
If you accept that momentum plays a role, then Arizona really has dominated.
Now, I suppose the argument could be made that Dallas has sucked more than Arizona has dominated.
by brettgardner on Oct 12, 2008 3:56 PM CDT up reply actions
Their momentum
is solely based on the KO return giving them the lead and being at home. They have done no more on offense than Dallas.
by Brett Perryman on Oct 12, 2008 4:00 PM CDT up reply actions
Fair enough.
But if the two offenses cancel each other out, then certainly the touchdown, combined with the quick turnover turnaround are enough for a team with little expectations to gain a significant amount of momentum.

I mean seriously, the way the tuck rule was explained back then, once a QB makes a throwing motion, he can never fumble after that.
Whatever happened to that rule?
No you weren't
You were bitching that the tuck rule isn’t called anymore, that it was just called for Tom Brady.
It was called right then.

on Roy WIlliams (WR)
Something tells me that Jerry will look at today’s game, see that they only two scores they had were Austin and Crayton, and decide that a top notch #2 WR isn’t much of an issue.
But then he'll
decide that they need something and do it anyway. :)

We are still a great team and will be back on track next week against St Louis. Guaranteed.

The only good thing about the Cowboys
is the greatness of the “End of the World” media stories in Dallas after a loss.

Or after the Cincy win
I dunno how much some of you houstonites are tuned in to the Dallas media, but after the Cincy game there was a major flare up between the media and Wade..
Basically Galloway, Jacque Taylor and those guys played the “Cowboys stink because Wade lets mediocrity slide” angle. Big time. Because Wade and Romo were playing the “wins a win” card.
