Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

NFL/Cowboys

Welp, three of the five brain surgeons (Berman, Ditka, Keyshawn) on ESPN picked the Cards today. Line is Dallas -4.5. The Giants and Skins have virtual walkovers today, so it would be very nice to win.

I'm a little fascinated with what the Raiders do against the Saints today. Do they lose by 4 TDs by throwing it deep every play?

Always picks against the Cowboys.

And now for the “Nobody cares about your fantasy team” question of the week:

I had the following 4 running backs: LT, Forte, Turner and Ronnie Brown

Which two should I have started?

Good grief

Four of the top eight ranked teams are from the Big 12 South. Four of the top eight teams in a six team division, has that ever happened at any point?

Overall, 6 of the top 16 for the league. The SEC is down to 4 of the top 20 (2, 5, 10.,13).

by Brett Perryman on Oct 12, 2008 12:49 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

historically, IMO

big 12 has always been underrated and the SEC has always been overrated.

Think it might take

a loss this week to convince Jerry?

by Brett Perryman on Oct 12, 2008 1:12 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Jerry is a smart man

he knows the defense is not that good, he needs to get as many weapons on the offensive side and Roy is perfect to take the doubles away from TO…

This is a no-brainer for me, give away a late 1st rounder for him…we’re stocked with picks next year anyways…

TO is old, won’t play much longer…what are we going to do, wait till free agency? Draft? We need an impact WR now and for the future, and with Detroit coming out saying they are wanting/wiling to trade Roy, this is Jerry’s best opportunity to get him…and probably not for THAT much…

My concern at this point

is exactly what you’d get out of him for this season. His role at the moment probably wouldn’t be terribly complicated, but the history of WRs obtained during the season isn’t too hot.

Chambers is kind of a convenient memory

since he’s the exception and basically a best case scenario, but yeah, he at least would give me hope that you could integrate a veteran deep threat guy into this offense – which is obviously pretty similar – very quickly. I’d still be concerned about it, though.

And since the Super Bowl season...

…which was 6 years ago, they’ve won a total of 20 games.

They are a trainwreck of a franchise. As big of a clown as Jerry Jones is, at least he’s better than Al Davis.

by Adam J. Morris on Oct 12, 2008 2:02 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yep

I still fear that Davis is the inevitable eventuality of Jerry, once Jerry has dementia set in like Al has, so I definitely am empathetic.

I agree

but what do you do if you’re Stephen and Jerry Jr and Jerry’s gone crazy? Think about how stubborn he is and how determined he’s always been to run the team. I’d have to think that a Jerry who’s lost his scruples isn’t morem likely to hand over control to his kids or anyone else. Maybe Jean could step in.

by boomer1 on Oct 12, 2008 3:56 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Well

If you accept that momentum plays a role, then Arizona really has dominated.

Now, I suppose the argument could be made that Dallas has sucked more than Arizona has dominated.

by brettgardner on Oct 12, 2008 3:56 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Their momentum

is solely based on the KO return giving them the lead and being at home. They have done no more on offense than Dallas.

by Brett Perryman on Oct 12, 2008 4:00 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Fair enough.

But if the two offenses cancel each other out, then certainly the touchdown, combined with the quick turnover turnaround are enough for a team with little expectations to gain a significant amount of momentum.

What a RETARDED sequence

Miss wide open WR for HUGELY needed TD two plays ago..

Pass on 3rd and 1 instead of run for it and call time out..boneheaded

Then miss FG.

Awful

well

we really didn’t see that type of play calling and game management coming…

wide open WR...

with a defensive player in the act of tackling him..

the preceding post was a great success.

Well

Felix was up in the stands with five loaves and two fish feeding the entire crowd. I guess they just figured it was a lost cause without him on the field.

Yep

First game all year I can say that..

Cept maybe the GB game, they played pretty well there. And I guess technically the Cleveland game, but they suck.

In case you are wondering why

Felix didn’t come back in and don’t have the radio on, Felix has a hammy issue. Not sure if they’ve mentioned that on FOX.

Notice

When they showed a highlight of the SF TD, they cut not to the head coach but, Mike Martz..

OC’s are correctly becoming bigger than head coaches in this league..

Well, I guess in some cases anyway..like Dallas.

He’s been a disappointment both on defense and special teams, IMO.

He's struggled with the defensive schemes.

And on special teams, well, 4.7 yards per punt return doesn’t exactly scream “Pro Bowl”.
