The Ticket on a Mac
Apologies for the non-baseball diary, but has anyone ever succesfully listened to The Ticket on a Mac? I tried once long ago without success, but am now thinking about switching over. I just emailed Catlin and he is unsure whether the ticket can be streamed on an apple. Thanks in advance for any help.

It will work.

what about
on an iphone, I haven’t really messed with it too much any suggestions??

I have one
it won’t work by using safari.
Download “wunder radio” from the app store — you can listen to the Ticket and just about any other radio station in the country on that.
If your iphone is jailbroken, you can get the app free from http://appulo.us/appdb/

Can't run slingbox yet.
Wunder Radio is the shit though (it came out fairly recently). Totally worth the 5-6 bucks it costs.

I've heard
that Apple won’t allow the technology because ATT is pressuring them. They say a Slingbox app would use up too much of their networks bandwidth.

That seems pretty likely
They’ve been going hard after people using bandwidth on the 3G. They used to have an unlimited data plan for the GoPhone customers and they’ve recently shut that down due to excessive bandwidth usage.

Dumb question...
…but if I wanted to listen to, say, a baseball game involving the Dallas/Fort Worth Rangers of Arlington would this app make that a possibility. Do you know of any mms: streams that host Rangers games?
Thanks.

No
That app wouldn’t work. KRLD cuts off their MMS streams when they’re broadcasting Rangers games. You can thank Uncle Bud for that.

i bet you could do it with mlb.com at some point in the future
or you can look around online … i bet you can find something out there like myp2pforum for audio/radio/games?

Yes
It is via an app, so it wasn’t available until the new 3g phones came out and they went to the 2.0 software (though the 2.0 software works with my edge network phone and most of the stations work with edge).

I like the 75 word filler. A lot more inventive than most of us around here, including me.

reply to knockoutking (my work comp sucks)
Yeah, you can listen to the ticket on your crackberry. Just go to the browers and go to the ticket’s page — you’ll be able to click the link.
As for the streaming KRLD comment above — as it is right now you can’t pull up wunder radio or even KRLD’s site during Rangers games and get the stream working. MLB requires them to restrict it so they can sell their mlb.tv subscriptions and all that. There may be “illegal” ways of doing it, but not on the iphone yet.

On the subject of radio
The only sports station I can get in my office is ESPN 103.3. I never listen to it unless there is a game on or something big is happening that I want to hear about. Well, with all the Cowboys stuff going on yesterday I listened…..what a mistake that was. That station is horrible. If it wasn’t carrying the ESPN name there is no way that crap could stay on the air.
It started with the “Herd”. The host wasn’t too bad but I can’t really comment for sure because he was rarely on the air. I have never heard a station with more commercial and/or “sports breaks” than I heard yesterday. Cowherd would talk for about 5 minutes then go to break for 5 come back for a couple and go to break for 5. It was amazing. The worst part is when they do the double Sportscenter breaks where they have the local guy and the national guy both do an update in the same break.
Michael Irvin was a great football player…..
Galloway just plain sucks. The stammering and the constant snipes and silly names he calls people make him sound like a child. The ass kissing over-laughing sidekicks don’t help matters any.
Then there is Greggo. He’s still as bad as he was on the Ticket but now he is having to carry the show more so his shortcomings show up a lot more. They weren’t on last night but I have heard the show a couple of times since he came back. One time they spent 2 segments playing guess who has the worst college uniforms. Basically, Greg had a list put together by some magazine and the other guys on the show just started naming off schools for 30 minutes. Riveting….
