I don’t hate either team. In fact, I kinda like both of them.
Two seasons ago in September (I think) I mentioned here that I really like watching the D-Rays since they had a lot of young exciting players and, if the Rangers weren’t in the running, I’d just like them to show promise of things to come.

I never write off the season until the Rangers are all but mathmatically eliminated. That said, if performance warrants, I’m all for blowing it up this season.
I look at the D-Rays, Marlins, D-Backs (to a lesser extent) and even the Royals, and think that it must be exciting to be a fan of those teams. Sure, they probably won’t win a division (D-Backs excepted), but there’s potential.

Not exactly what I recall saying (or the timeframe) but I guess the same intent is there. Kinda weird when you think where the Rangers are now and how we’re getting a bit excited for the future.

I LOVE that they use the center field camera that is dead straight behind home plate. The fact we don’t get that angle on US broadcasts is really lame.

Font has the upside of Holland and Feliz, still just a kid, he had some knee and shoulder issues this year so the Rangers took it slow with him. Hopefully he can emerge next year and be knocking on the big league team in a few years.

This team, if it’s young arms (Feliz, Holland, Beavan, Main, Kiker – among others) can stay healthy could be very much like this Rays club (all 26 and under). Now if Andrus and Borbon can develop some more and set the table for the likes of Hamilton, Davis and Cruz, this team is going to be seriously contending in 3-4 years.

It’s one of the oldest high school football rivalries in the state. Began in the late 1800s and then had a brief break. This year will be the 77th meeting of the two schools. The winner, indeed, claims ownership of a cowbell.

Chase Utley’s is 128.

are ahead of schedule and very inexperienced, and it shows. At least this Philly team has been somewhat tested and been together longer. The lack of experience was bound to show. This could just be nerves, but I wouldn’t bet on that. I think Philly takes it.

we are at least two years away from seriously competing. We just don’t have the major league ready arms right now and they shouldn’t be rushed. The problem isn’t our offense (which Manny brings), it’s our pitching, which should be allowed the time to develop.

A doctor at an (insane) asylum, decided to take his inmates to a baseball game. For weeks in advance, he coached his patients to respond to his commands. When the day of the game arrived, everything seemed to be going well. As the national anthem started, the doctor yelled, “Up nuts!” and the inmates complied by standing up. After the anthem he yelled, “Down Nuts!” and they all sat down. After a home run he yelled, “Cheer nuts!” and they all broke into applause and cheers.
