Josh Hamilton Book Signing...
Not sure if this deserves an entire Fan Post or not, but I was just wondering if anyone else made it out to Josh's book signing tonight at Barnes & Noble in south Arlington. It was really quite a sight, the store was absolutely jam packed. I stood in line for over 3 hours and there were still a lot more people in line behind me. I don't know if they expected that many to people show up, but Josh stayed and signed copies of his book for at least 4 hours. It was a great turnout and a very classy move by Josh. Good stuff.... the end.

Signing
I got there at 5pm and was the 10th person in line. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the system they had in place for waiting in line. I had to go back to the “H” section, and ended up being about person #250 in line. I got my book signed at about 8:00 or so.
Great event though! And I agree, the line through the store was pretty crazy. I feel sorry anyone that was in the store actually trying to shop and had no interest in the signing.

Waited three hours.
Totally worth it. Josh was exceptionally nice, and was as friendly to me as I’m sure he was to the second person in line (I was probably 20th from the end, got it signed about 10:30pm).
Two quick stories:
There was a kid about four spots in front of me. He was probably about 9 years old, and he was with his dad. He wore his full Rangers little league jersey… pants, belt, socks, the whole nine yards. Obviously, Josh has been sitting there for over four hours signing autographs. But when this kid bounces up there, Josh leans forward and gives him a high-five. He starts talking to him and his dad. This is the part of the conversation I overheard:
Hamilton: “So, you want to play for the Rangers someday?”
Kid: “Yeah!”
Hamilton: “Alright, but you’ve got to practice hard, and pray harder, OK?”
Kid: “OK!”
OK, the other story. About eight spots in front of me was a woman wearing a Hamilton All-Star jersey. When she got up to Josh, he asked her to turn around so he could see the back of the jersey. When he realized that it was his, he remarked to the woman (I’m paraphrasing), “You know, I never get tired of seeing that. That’s still cool to me.”
Throughout the entire experience, Josh came off as exceptionally humble and very friendly. Oh, and I got to read about half the book while standing in line.

The Ticket has run some promos
saying that all you have to do on your blackberry is go to the browser and pull up theticket.com
I don’t have one so I don’t know, but that’s what their promos said.

Also waited....
I also waited around 3 hours and like and like others did not know of the early registration for wrist bands that started on Saturday. I am glad I waited though. I have never been to another signing so this was my first experience. I was impressed that he made it a point to shake your hand and start a small conversation. Mine went like this.
JH:" How’s it going boss. "
DB: “Great how are you. "
JH: "Fine thanks”.
as he was signing DB: “I am looking forward to seeing that same signature on a long term contract with the Rangers.”
Josh leans forward and smiled JH: “Well send your e-mails to the Texas Rangers and start putting the pressure on them.” as he smiled and turned to the next guest.
It was also cool to see his wife and new born baby at his side.

Eh, nothing really new.
He spoke about his religion, and bottoming out, and coming back. Something about the battle for his soul – demon faces in clouds…
Also, his favorite play in baseball is throwing a runner out at home. Moreso than the homer because he gets to see the play develope, and it fires his teammates up too.
And he’s pulling for the Rays, of course.

Also, Josh said that Milton Bradley came to his book signing in LA, and Milton wants to return to the Rangers next year.

There is a table full of signed copies of the book at the South Arlington B&N where he signed last night.
It looked like there were about 100 copies.
