Happy birthday, Jim Bibby
Happy birthday to Jim Bibby, who turns 64 today (geez, that makes me feel old)...
Bibby was acquired early in the 1973 season in exchange in a deal involving the immortal Tiger catcher John Wockenfuss, and went on to throw the first no-hitter in Rangers history later that season.
In the middle of the 1975 season, he was dealt to Cleveland as part of a package that brought future Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry to Texas, and after several years in Pittsburgh (where he started two World Series games in 1979 and got a ring, and where he finished 3rd in the Cy Young balloting the next year by virtue of winning 19 games), he finished up his career with an 8 game stint in the Rangers bullpen in 1984.

There's some great stuff about Jim's anatomy...

I just finished reading Seasons in Hell.

I really loved that book...
…I’ve read it at least 4 times. The Whitey Herzog stuff is great.

It's definitely going on my "read again" list
