Man...

watching the playoffs I can’t help but remember how obsessed Joe Morgan was with Craig Monroe in 2006.

To paraphrase, “The only questions is how good he is going to be.” Well, Joe, to answer your question, not very good at all.

The 2008 Craig Monroe = Akinori Iwamura and the 2008 Joe Morgan = Harold Reynolds.

It's official

Ranger = Only Team in Baseball to never win a playoff Series,

Congrats, the Rays are officially better than the Rangers.

Actually..

I think the Senators/Rangers and the Expos/Nationals are the only two franchises never to win a playoff series. The Rangers are, however, the only franchise never to play in an LCS. The Expos were in the NLCS when only the two division winners qualified for the playoffs.

In 81

the Expos won a series over the phillies, I believe, when the first half winners played the second half winners in a playoff series due to a strike year. Still a postseason series win for them, versus zero for the Rangers.

Forgot about the best-of-three series that year due to the strike.

Feeling a bit bitter this morning

I guess. I fully expect the team to improve next year, just because there is no way they will have as many injuries, and a new pitching coach has a chance to undo some of the damage that Connor seems to have done, along with all the talent on the way. I’d expect a win total in the low to mid 80s next year is possible, depending on offseason deals. 2010 looks good, and 2011 even better.

In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, love.

Since the Red Sox/Halos are about to start

I thought I’d pass along this little tidbit I garnered from one of my Angels friends today. She is mad because Teixeira isn’t likely to re-sign with the Angels. And not because he dislikes the organization or the location, it’s because his wife can’t find friends there. Ha ha. I just thought that was interesting.

Poor Mrs. Teixeira. I’ve always imagined that it’s tremendously difficult to maintain a relationship if you’re a professional athlete or you are married/dating one.

That said, from a strictly baseball standpoint, that makes me ecstatic.

I actually think it's kind of lame

I’m all about putting family first, but come on. In the entire L.A. area, she can’t find friends?!? They’ve been there less than three months…shouldn’t she give it a little more time? Or is this just a lame excuse for him to not look like a jerk for not re-signing with the Halos.

Well...

Mark and his wife, the former Georgia Leigh Williams, have a son, Jack Gordan and daughter Addison Leigh…They reside in Westlake, TX.

Westlake is significantly different from Los Angeles, and I wonder if they just don’t fit in there.

I still think three months is a hasty decision period

I mean, I’ve lived in different communities (without the safety net of a husband) and I know it’s tough to make new friends in a new city. If I’d judged any of my places of residence in three months, I’d never settle anywhere.

Maybe I came off too harsh

I have nothing against Leigh. Honestly, she seems like a very sweet person. And with two young children, it probably is hard to get out and meet new people. Plus, she was raised in the Deep South and is suddenly living on the West Coast. I suppose she can’t really give it another year or two and then expect her hubby to ask for a trade. This is her most logical out if she’s going to get one. So, maybe I see their point.

And, honestly, I’d be glad to see him leave Anaheim so we don’t have to see him 19 times a year.

that's not the point

he explained it that if the ball is still in grasp as the knee hits, it’s down by contact. That has to be a rule by the NFL, or he will certainly called out again by Goodell…and probably demoted or suspended.

That just has to be some kind of rule, ’cause if not, that was one of the worst calls ever…
