More Josh Hamilton book giveaway
Okay, yesterday we did a post about the Josh Hamilton book, and I invited folks to do a post about why they should get a free copy of it from me (well, from the publisher, but you know what I mean)...
I've decided that the winner is Future Pants, although there were many quality choices.
I'm sure many of you will disagree with my choice, and here is your chance to rectify that.
Vote in the comments for who you think I should send a copy of the book to.
IT HAS TO BE SOMEONE WHO ASKED FOR A COPY IN YESTERDAY'S THREAD. Don't just vote miles because you think it is funny. He didn't ask for a book. Only vote for someone who legitimately asked for a book in the last thread.
I have 5 books to disburse...1 is going to zywica, 1 to Future Pants, who is yesterday's winner, and 1 to whomever wins this round.
I'm trying to figure out how to select the last 2 folks. I'm open to suggestions.

If he is being upfront about his addiction problem, then I think he’s a good candidate.
I’d also like to suggest that whoever came closest to predicting Hamilton’s production in the community prediction threads should get a book.

Although everyone missed bad on PAs. Hamilton’s 704 PAs was much better than the 500-600 most were guessing.

I think, though
that the recommendation of the TX cuties disqualifies him.
Wow, I only missed Hamilton’s OBP by one point, but I grossly overestimated the slugging.

nice.
I had .300/.400/.500, which is just as close to his average, and .001 off in OPS…
but only 500 plate appearances.

here is why:
I’d like a copy. To read, as one who has a kind of faith, but is cynical about demonstrations of outward Christianity and those who publically profess transformations because of belief. And more importantly, as one who would pass it on to an 18 year old granddaughter who persistently chooses wrong paths and is wrecking what was great optimism about her future.

As for giving away the final two books though
I’d go with some kind of playoff prediction contest. For example, give it to whoever can predict or comes closest to predicting the final score of a given playoff game or something.

I concur on Ed.
Ed’s posts are always well thought out, intelligent and informative. One of the few readers whose responses I look forward to. And he asked.

It's not
a book on how to bang hot bitches. What makes you think that miles would read it?

Nor is it a book about status.
That, of course, was written by miles.

thanks
I was hoping thered be another contest rather than votes for the stories since I didnt have one really.
Started working on some hamilton things last night as my argument for future competitions but it appears this is the last thread on it. only like 20% done.

I don’t have any nice reasons that do really sound like they deserve to get it, but I am an everyday LSB reader for years who really appreciates hamilton’s story and would enjoy the book greatly.
the preceding post was a great success.

As for how to give the others away.
Make people vote on who has been the MVP (Most Valuable Poster) of the season. That includes gameday threads, discussion threats, FanPosts, FanShots, etc.

A request
Can the people who receive the book please post a brief review of it for all of us? You know, stuff like whether you’d buy it yourself if you had the chance, is it something you’d recommend to a non-baseball fan or to a hardcore fan or both? We don’t need a long writeup or anything – just a brief summary of whether it is good or not and why.
by JBImaknee on Oct 7, 2008 11:38 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Yes
A thoughtful idea. “IF” one comes this direction. After reading the requests, I think giving a copy to a person who is going to use the book for work with several young people would be the best possible use for it. So a couple of the requests should be prioritized over mine.

Community Book
I think there should be a community book so that it’s given to someone on the condition that they will ship the book to the next person from the board and that person would ship it on…and on…and on…
