OT: Pacman Jones/Terence Newman
One of the poster boys of Roger Goodell's crackdown on off-the-field incidents is apparently in trouble again.
Per Calvin Watkins at The Dallas Morning News:
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones got into an altercation with one of his security guards at the Joule Hotel in downtown Dallas on Wednesday morning, according to Dallas Deputy Chief Vince Golbeck, who is a commander of the central patrol division.
Jones was having dinner at the hotel when a dispute occurred. Chief Golbeck said he believed Jones was staying at the hotel and may have been drinking.
This does not bode well for the guy who claimed that he had reformed himself and become a bigger, better man. Then again, this might be nothing blown out of proportion into something because of the man involved.
Does Goodell crack down on him again? Or is this too small of an issue to matter?
Interesting times we live in here in the D/FW sports sphere.
UPDATE 9:49 CST: Rather than start a new thread, I figured I would just add onto this one.
ESPN's Ed Werder is reporting that Terence Newman has a sports hernia and may need surgery.
Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl cornerback Terence Newman has been diagnosed with a sports hernia injury and the team has forwarded results of his medical tests to a Philadelphia specialist for confirmation before determining whether surgery is necessary, according to a source close to the player. <!-- INLINE HEADSHOT (BEGIN) -->
A Cowboys source said Newman would have the surgery immediately if the sports hernia injury is confirmed and would be out a minimum of six weeks. Newman will miss his third game of the season Sunday when the Cowboys play the Arizona Cardinals.
At the request of Newman and his agent, the Cowboys have sent the player's MRI results and other information to Dr. William Meyers, who performed surgery on Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb to repair a sports hernia injury. NBA player Grant Hill, whose father Calvin works for the Cowboys, is another professional athlete Meyers has treated for the injury.
Two stories about the Cowboys secondary, two pieces of (potentially) bad news.

Until more details emerge this is a nonstory
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

Ummmm...
You do know who the Commissioner of the NFL is don’t you? If he killed a fly, Goodell will suspend him forever probably. I think Pacman is fucked and so are the Cowboys. We have no defense as is, and with Pacman and Newman out we are royally screwed. Scandrick and Jenkins on the corners? Oh noes.

And so begins the implosion!
Only partially tongue-in-cheek, mind you.

We need him halthy for the playoffs and that’s all that matters.

meh
even an healthy newman is not a good player anymore, IMO. I like our young CBs, just stick with them…
Having a competent DCor would help more.

Whoa, really?
I think Newman is still a top tier CB when healthy. Maybe I’m just missing something, but I still consider a healthy Newman “elite”.

A healthy Newman is the 2nd best player on the defense.

Bobby Carpenter would shoot to the top of that list...
…if he was just given a chance.

Since you posted that bit of greatness...
…I’ll ask this question:
Does anyone else find Lois Griffin really hot?

Giant caveat here.
IF a woman existed with the physical qualities of Lois Griffin, I might find her attractive.
But I’ve honestly never understood the idea of thinking a cartoon character is hot. She’s a drawing. That’s not a knock on anybody or anything personal; I’ve just never understood it.

Fortunately I don't share your lack of understanding...
…which increases my chances of casual arousal since I get turned on by animate women and animated women.

I thought I saw Bobby Carpenter make a tackle on special teams..
.. then realized it was #54 on the other team.

Oh come on now...
…Bobby has no place on the defense but he covers kicks like a Pro Bowler!

Goodell...
It will take Goodell at least two days to get his hood and sheets back from the dry cleaners. He’s not going to make a public announcement without stepping out in his cross burning best, so I bet Jones is safe at least through this weekend.
