OT: Antoine Wright: A Star in the Making
"Wright, the Texas A&M product considered the “bright spot of camp’’ by coach Rick Carlisle, has obviously earned rotation minutes. Wright, who came to Dallas in the Kidd trade, isn’t locked into the first-team job by any means; there will be a temptation for Carlisle to rely on a more “known quality’’ like Jason Terry and Jerry Stackhouse.
But. … we can hope, can’t we? Wright is 6-7, is athletic, is a finisher, has handles, can play a little defense and has been working on his shot. Stack and Jet off the bench would make that group special. And one or both of them might still be on the floor at game’s end.
But an injection of something different from years past at the 2? Worth a shot."
His line for the night?
9 points (4-4), 4 assts, 3 steals and 3 boards.
Wright is a guy I have always liked, and thought he was the bright spot in the Jason Kidd trade. I said last year that we will look back and say that Wright was a HUGE steal in that trade...
Does Dallas finnally have a legit SG?
Why yes.

Save yourself some stress and watch the Stars instead.

I’m going to the season opener tomorrow!

At least Ortegel is back
It’s sad that the best move the Mavs made in the offseason was the TV broadcaster. I don’t even know why Cuban removed Ortegel. It was a dumb move to begin with. It’s like watching Tom Grieve with the Rangers it’s not the same without him. I’m starting to can’t stand Cuban, I liked him in the beggining but now he doesn’t even seem like the same owner that we had a few years ago. I think he lost a lot of his passion with the Mavs. To cheap to move in the first round of the draft. I remember the first year he bought a pick in the lottery. I bet if he buys the Cubs he will sell the Mavs. The Mavs need to rebuild but we can’t because of the recent transactions we made (Jason Kidd trade).
after the finals
i think it took a lot of the wind out of him

It doesn't suck
It is just a bleah .500 team without any real championship hopes.

That sucks in the NBA.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not disagreeing with you. I can’t stand the NBA for a variety reasons. The season is too long, everybody gets into the playoffs, the first round goes on FOREVER and there are very seldom any upsets. Outside of the Mavericks in 07, when was the last time a #1 or #2 seed lost?
After the past few years, I don’t plan on wasting my time this season watching these clowns toil in mediocrity. They’ll finish as a #7 or #8 and lose in the first round. I just wish they’d blow the team up, get Dirk on a team he can compete with and start stockpiling picks.
But I digress…

Clarify my rant
- or #2 lose in the first round.

Despite being a big time Stars fan
I have to admit that the Red Wings are probably going to not only win the West, but probably do it by a considerable amount

not so fast
while i agree that they are the odds on favorite and the signing of the top free agent marion hossa to a 1 year deal ( I mean seriously, that was a punch in the gut) makes them look quite formidable, they are after all an old team with a goaltender who has been around forever. Injuries can catch up to a team like that and while they do have many good young players, they have the most veterans of any team I can think of.
Kind of off topic, but how long has Chelios been playing? some 20 odd years give or take a couple?
I'm sorry my parents never had me sarcamsized.
well they did lose to Toronto yesterday
so i guess there is a chance.
But to answer your question, Chelios is in his 26th year and he’s 46 years old.

Gotta love...
the Rangers’ fan who bullies people for watching/commenting on another team that’s not championship caliber.

heh
The Mavs are as frustrating as the Rangers, but I at least have a lot more faith in the MLB than I do NBA. I think the league is a complete joke.
Plus this is miles we’re talking about. He knows to expect jabs in anything he posts.

Watched this kid for years at A&M
I knew he wasn’t the absolute stud that we considered him to be in Aggieland, but I also knew he wasn’t the dud that he had been for years in NJ. I am glad to see the Mavs giving him a fair shot in training camp. Unearthing good young players on the cheap is the key to success in any sport, whether its a Brandon Bass or an Armando Gallaraga.
An entire diary and nary a mention of your status.
What’s the deal, Miles?
This is some weak tasting sauce.
I won’t even rec this steaming pile of baby vomit.

go wright
he by aggie boy!
if only acie law can stay healthy and actually play decent (i think he was the worst player in the nba last year??)

NIXON: NOW MORE THAN EVER
law could be good this year
that atlanta team has the potential to go pretty far this year with Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Mike Bibby, Al Horford, etc. Law could be a very solid backup to Bibby and with Bibby getting up there in age, should see plenty of minutes.

I'd love to see
heavy doses of Wright, Gerald Green and Reyshawn Terry this year…hopefully Eddie Jones doesn’t make it back to full health
