Yay Free Agency!
Free agency just started. Happy Happy Joy Joy! Obviously the big boys areTex/Sabathia/Burnett/Dunn/Manny etc. Where will they go? Where will K-douche in go? Everybody knows about them but the real story line is where Ramon Vazquez lands. Oh how i'll miss the molester stache. So the question is do you think the Rangers will sign anyone? Rumors have them interested in Fuentes,Sheets, etc. Will they resign Bradley? Oh happy day!

as long as
they throw Kazmir and Shields in that deal, I’m down with that.

Sheets or bust
although Randy Johnson for a year and the old miracle bucholz acquisition would suffice.
although honestly I expect… nothing. some end of the pile SP that we’d be better off without and overpaying for a decent reliever.
the preceding post was a great success.

Expectations...
I’m with you. I think they will do very little this off season. Trade OMFT for a decent reliever and bring back Jennings on a minor league deal. Those are the only 2 moves that I think will be made.

Unfortunately, I think you are right
I think we have a lot of high hopes for this off-season, but I don’t think we will see a lot of moves by the Rangers. I think we will probably see Saltalamacchia or Laird traded and the return will be satisfactory, but not amazing. (like Bowden or Masterson)
As much as I would love to see the Rangers sign someone like Sheets, or trade for a Greinke/Nolasco or Sonnanstine/Bonderman, I just don’t think it will happen.

randy johnson will not pitch all of 2009
bet on it
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

Mark Teixeira will win back my respect if he signs with Baltimore.

What about the Nationals?

The day he plays for the Nationals is the day old-timey ballplayer ghosts emerge from my crop of corn, ready to play a game of baseball on a field I had sunk every last penny of my life-savings into because a voice in the wilderness told me to...

You do know Bawlmer and DC are an hour apart, right?

I would rather see him play for the O's.
With the pitchers they have on the way, he’d play a big role in making them relevant again.

Why?
One of the biggest reasons he wouldn’t sign the big deal with Texas before he was traded was because he wanted to win. Do you really think he will win in Baltimore?
I understand that is where he is from, but if he goes to Baltimore it will be because they throw the most money at him. Not because he wants to play in his home town or thinks he can win there.

outrageous suggestion
Kenny Williams is up to something up in Chicago, or so suggests Ken Rosenthal.
If this team were to somehow convince Kenny to take on Young’s contract (hasn’t he always been infatuated with Young?) it could clear up some money to make a run at Wood AND Sheets.
Crazy talk, I know. But I think Williams and Daniels have worked together before, IIRC.

Wood
is probably the only reliever out there that I think is worth throwing a decent sized contract at.
But, I’d be absolutely SHOCKED if MY was traded.

Hicks and K.Wood
Hasn’t Hicks always had a man crush on Kerry Wood a la Clemens? Not as strong as the Clemens thing since there aren’t any UT ties, but a crush none the less?

Its ozzie that has always liked young
and if they are trading off contracts like swisher to save money.. doesnt exactly make sense to take on young’s contract.
the preceding post was a great success.

it may not be a sell off
just a reallocation.

KLaw said
something about Chi maybe teaching Marquez the cutter. I think, though, they’re incorrectly counting on Swisher continuing to suck.

If Cashman is right
about Swisher and he spends Teixeira money on Sabathia and Lowe instead he’s going to look like a genius.

This year, fo sho. Kept his BB% at its usual epic level even while struggling, and the BABIP will normalize. Flukey bad season for him.
Plus he was yanked in and out of the lineup daily by the supreme DBag and was asked t play CF a lot when he was in the lineup, which is just asinine. The guy’s not a CF’er. He’s just not.
