Red Sox Send Crisp to KC

Red  Sox  send Crisp to  KC for Ramirez

Could this pave the way for a catcher for starting pitcher trade with Texas?   This would seem to make  Masterson more expendable or if they want Masterson to start maybe that would make Bucholz available.  They also say they want a right-handed fourth outfielder so, maybe Cruz or Byrd with Salty for Bucholz? blah blah blah blah blah balh blah blah balh blah blah balh blah blah balh

i wish we had crisp

this last year

Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

Oh what I wouldn't give...

for the BoSox to accept a Salty + Byrd for Buchholz deal.

Sadly it would never happen.

Coco sucks

The royals just got worse. But they are cornering the market on light hitting outfielders.

To think there was a time when people though Coco Crisp was better than David Murphy ha ha ha. Silly Bitches.

It seems pretty easy

to make the case that Crisp is a little better than Murphy. In 352 AB, Crisp was .283/.344/.407 this year, and Murphy was .275/.321/.465 in 415 AB. It was Crisp’s best year in his last three, but it was also very close to his career average. Murphy had 12 win shares, Crisp had 11, which puts him a tad ahead if you straight prorate G or AB. Crisp had a VORP of 13.1, Murphy 12.2. They are pretty comparable offensive players, and Crisp has more defensive value.

well

You could argue that Murphy may still improve – he’s had only one full sesaon in the bigs. Whereas an improvement from Coco is unlikely.

Crisp has been a top defensive CF

once in the past 3 years according to +/-. People fell in love with his +/- from 2007 and take it to mean that he is always a perfect choice out there.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Well that's the only way

I can see you thinking that Crisp is as good of an option as Murphy.

Crisp and Murphy are different players

Murph’s a COF with a little more power, but less OBP skills, while Coco is the speed/CF defense guy with an OBP in the .340’s.

I think Crisp is more comparable to my highest hopes for Julio Borbon than he is to Murph.

Well then that's kind of sad.

Um, Coco is about ten million times better than the Mosquito.

And they lacked a true CF’er last year so this is a very good move for them.

Now they can move OfJesus to a corner where belongs.

Solid move for both squads.

10 Millon?

Don’t be one of those silly bitches.

Nobody wants a light hitting fielder that sucks.

D-Murph this year better than Coco in whatever that scrubs peak year was.

Heh.

Sorry, didn’t realize you were being sarcastic with that first comment. My bad.

That was a good one, though.

This confirms that Dayton Moore intends to win next year.

Which means Zack Greinke will be a Ranger next August.

GREINKE HO!!!!!

by oc on Nov 19, 2008 9:10 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I would actually think

That confirmation means the opposite. If Moore wants to win next year, the best way to do that is to keep Greinke instead of trading him for a package of prospects.

Whoops

Sorry, I get April and August confused a lot.

Red Sox

This move actually gives the Red Sox more flexibility, but it doesn’t automatically mean Masterson will move into the rotation (Ramirez will probably replace Timlin in the bullpen pecking order)
To me, it only helps the Rangers if a) Varitek signs elsewhere and b) a top FA pitcher signs with the Red Sox (Lowe, Burnett, etc)

If Varitek signs elsewhere...

Hoo boy, I will giggle myself to sleep. If that day comes, Theo will bend over for JD the likes of which we haven’t seen him bend over for anyone.

Varitek won’t sign elsewhere, though.

Go Strangers.

Varitek may go unemployed!

Especially if Boras keeps asking for a ridiculous deal that only the Red Sox would even think twice about.

Go Cubbies and Go Rangers!
