Listening to this a second time, the hosts talk as if Boston is the center of the universe.

…and I still don’t get why not striking out is so important to consider in an MVP candidate. Obviously, putting the ball in play is going to show up in his high batting average and OBP and therefore things like OPS…… Thus, Ryan Howard’s .339 OBP. If it can be traced to other stats, why is it so important to look at on its own?
