I think I can agree with that.
Carlin, Pryor, Eddie Izzard, Murphy and Denis Leary all make up my top five.
Yeah, I know, Leary’s not in their same league, but some of his stuff just cracks me up. He’s No. 5.

Eddie Murphy's standup
I remember laughing my ass off when I first caught Raw and Delirious.
Lately on XM’s comedy channels, I’ve caught alot of Eddie’s 80’s bits. Fucking totally nonplussed. Big ol meh.
What I don’t know, however, is why. Is it because some comedy doesn’t age well? Or is it b/c I was a teenager when I originally liked him?
I suspect it is the former. But who knows. I didn’t laugh once at this bit today though.

I tend to think it's the former
SNL is a pretty good example.

SNL ages like a banana
mike myers is unwatchable. and repeating cheeseburger over and over again is not that funny.
but that’s why i give bill cosby props. i thought his standup aged really well. bill cosby on the other hand aged terribly

I absolutely love Delirious.
But I cannot stand Raw at all.
I understand Eddie Murphy ripping Bill Cosby as parody (just like he did with Stevie Wonder), but it just feels outright insulting. Maybe it’s because I see Cosby as someone who’s more than a comedian, or maybe it’s because I’m too young to really get it.

Cosby has always been kind of sanctimonious
I think he was the one out of line.

I can agree with that.
I don’t think it’s Bill Cosby’s place to call Eddie Murphy and rail against his brand of comedy. However, it doesn’t bother me when I see him in the news talking about black culture and how self-degrading a lot of it is. I guess I should’ve clarified that.

As the video said
Cosby needs to have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up. How he got so big is beyond me.

Eddie Murphy
Yeah he used to be funny. Now he’s not…seems to be happy to collect a paycheck doing stuff for kids, which is fine.
I’m in disagreement with some of you. I’ve listened to some of Cosby’s routines from way back and I thought they were very funny. Then again I can watch The Andy Griffith Show for hours and not get bored.
Pryor was umdoubtedly funnier. Carlin has no equal. Cosby still makes me laugh, though.

Eddie
When I was about 10 yo my family got the first VCR in town and my Dad decided to rent 48 Hours to go with it having no idea what it was like (he just liked buddy/cop shows). I was transfixed and horrified at the same time watching it with my 50 yo catholic parents. But I was one cool damn gradeschooler talking about getting my dick bronzed.
Now that I think about it, I swear on a constant basis. As in a Christmas Story, I work in swear words like other artists work in oils. I think my dad accidently corrupted me.
Nothing pithy here. Please move long.

Haha...
My dad did the same with me. When I was 11 or 12 I remember going through one of his drawers and finding Eddie Murphy and Sam Kinison tapes. When I asked him what they were he told me I wasn’t old enough to listen to those yet. So of course what is a kid going to do when he is told he can’t do something? It was all downhill from there. I’ve been a comedy junkie since then.
You going to the Border War today Wyo?

Border War
Nah. It’s sad since it’s only a 50 minute drive but I’d been working 10-12 hours a day lately so I’m just chilling. Probably head to the neighborhood bar to watch.
You going to the Holy War? That is one huuuuuge game today in all of college FB not just for the MWC. I’ll wear my “Fuck BYU” t-shirt in a show of solidarity today.

Hell Yeah...
I’ll be there. I wouldn’t miss this shit for the world. I couldn’t believe it, but people are actually scalping these tickest for 1K or higher for some seats, just crazy. I’ll be in the same seat I’m in for every game.
I need to get one of those shirts. I know for a fact some of our fans will have some pretty “creative” signs. I’m sure not many will be seen on TV though. Go Utes.

Murphy
I enjoy Murphy the character actor a lot more than Murphy the standup comic. The comedy was OK to make a splash. When the splash dies down you gotta do your craft for a living. Very few comics stay popular for a long time.
