Blackout policy update
You know how MLB was going to revise its ridiculous blackout policy vis-a-vis televised games?

Ugh
Can’t say I’m surprised though.

Someone needs to name the owners who are causing this nonsense
We know how this boys club works – you get two or three guys who start whining, and no one will stand up to them (unless it’s Texas, then they just through them in the West Division anyway)
Who are the owners keeping a fix from happening? St Louis? Atlanta? Seattle? Minnesota? Those four make the most sense to me based on geography and my memory of that stupid map when I saw it last.
Anyway, name the owners who are keeping progress from happening, that way national sportswriters can hate on someone other than Tom Hicks for a change.

Does anyone else think the MLB Network is going to suck?
Look, I like baseball as much as everyone else here on LSB, but if I wanted to watch re-runs of This Week In Baseball, I’d probably just find them on YouTube.

I will admit
The NFL and NHL Networks are two of my “fall-back” channels. If I can’t find anything on to watch, I usually end up there (Or History and Science Channels) and will find something to occupy 30-45 minutes.
I am hoping the MLB Network will just add to that.

Fucking Shit
At least I don’t live in a market where I’m affected, but this is still total and utter bullshit. Not to mention that it makes terrible business sense.

yeah
I’ve always wondered about this. Baseball is concerned about the ratings for the WS right? Well, maybe if they allowed more people to see more teams, then there’d be some interest in those teams once the WS starts?
I mean, besides games vs. the Rangers, how many people in the DFW area got to see the Rays play this year before the playoffs?

I live in Austin
and get to see ~60% of games. Sometimes the astros are on 2 channels, and I can’t watch the Rangers on one… unreal.
Sometimes I think it may be better to live way outside the territory b/c you could sign up for the mlb.com package and see every game, instead of hoping the infomercial channel shows the Rangers.

The Blackout Rule
is stupid, frustrating, illogical, and costs the league money.
No wonder they will continue it, Baseball management is stupid.
Nolan Ryan is the Greatest Pitcher ever, because Google says so.

Blackout rules
i remember when I tried to watch the 2 AM repeat of a (or probably the one) ranger game on espn a couple years ago.. and it was blacked out. what exactly was a 2 AM broadcast competing against.
the preceding post was a great success.

Is baseball run by the dumbest batch of swinging d***s or is it just me?
The owners’ self-interest is crippling the sport and the fans. We have the World Baseball Classic to develop interest and fans abroad, but screw the people that live in the US.
Nothing pithy here. Please move long.

FYI
If you live in Las Vegas, Arizona, LAA, LAD, SF and Oakland all claim you are part of their market. You cannot receive broadcasts from any of those teams.
I had a paper route when I was a kid. I was supposed to go to 2,000 houses. Or two dumpsters.
