damn, baylor put a scare into TT. too bad they couldnt pull it out.
tebow "we didnt look forward to alabama, FSU is a great team" - just call him Mr. P.C.
and tonight: bedlam. its gonna be nuts.
whose everyones picks?
i think OU wins.
also, lou holtz talking about USC being in the national championship race? whaaaaaaaaaaaaat. i just hope oregon state goes to the rose bowl.
oh, and damn, sylvester croom NEVER ranked higher than 103 in total offense and only cracked the top 100 in offensive pts/game one time in FIVE years...and he was *known* as an offensive guy? whaaaaaaaat. wow.
im kind of suprised croom resigned right after the game. wonder if it will be a situation where the following coach benefits for croom being right before him?
anyway. bedlam.

heard the best and most common sense of ways to
figuring out who should go. The 2 top teams in the BCS rankings in the BIG 12 and then whoever won their head to head during the year goes.
That’s the way it is in the SEC and ACC. So easy…

question: if OU loses to OSU (big if)
-TT goes to the big XII game
-texas sticks in the top 3 of the BCS
-the top 5 will be something like ’bama, texas, florida, USC, utah/tech. this should ensure that texas ends up in the top 2 and goes to the NC, right?
this would leave OU out in the cold (cant a conf only have 2 in the BCS bowl games) and would basically lock up most of the BCS as:
1) penn state (big 10)
2) oregon state (pac 10)
3) sec champ (forida?)
4) big 12 champ (tech in this situation)
5) acc champ (BC or va tech)
6) big east champ (cincy)
—-
7) utah (at large)
8) texas (at large)
9) at large (alabama?)
10) USC (at large)
and would put texas at #2 and the SEC champ at #1, right?

if SEC winner/texas wins the BCS how in the hell can USC win the AP half of the NC
if texas wins the BCS champ game and USC beats say BC/va tech/cincy whast the arguement for USC over texas or fla/bama

this whole thing is a giant mess
no matter who goes to the NC game or even the big12 championship game it’s going to be the wrong choice i’m sure.
and from what they are saying right now all ou has to do is win and get in.
what needs to happen is texas vs ou for the big 12 title.

i've thought about this
the easiest non playoff way of figuring things out….Just have the two top teams, according to the BCS rankings, in each BCS conference play against each other in the Conference Championship. That will clear up A LOT of the clutter…and, kinda, act like a playoff…

I think OU wins the conference if they get past OSU. However, if they choke in a BCS game again, I’d better not hear anyone (fans or media) say that they deserve to go over another team they’re tired with. Seriously, one more time and they’re stepping into Ohio State territory.

i think its a pretty much guarantee
that UT will be in a BCS bowl. But even if OSU wins, then TTU and USC fans (if Oregon holds on) are gonna start complaining that a team that doesnt win its conference shouldnt be in the NC game. But I think what theyre saying by going for OU is that then there would at least be a 3 way tie, and a chance for UT to get in the Big 12 Title game.

The real problem I have with Sports differntail leads right back to a quote from Mack Brown
“The BCS is taking the sportsmanship out of the game”
How many points do you think Texas could have put on A&M Wendesday? Same can be said for several other games on all 3 teams schedules. Point differential is a moot point unless everyone acknowledges it before the season starts.

We’re hearing that people connected to the Cincinnati program think that a deal is already in place for Kelly to coach Notre Dame. There’s even talk about who will lead the football program in its bowl game, which will be a BCS bowl thanks to Cincinnati winning the Big East.

that's not really how it works in college
and when a team has someone in mind, you don’t fire someone without knowing who u want first…
That’s why ND fired Ty first, they thought they had Urban…but then didn’t and it went on to be a circus, most schools don’t want to go through that…

Tipped balls are falling right in their hands, and fumbles are bouncing right back at them. If that doesn’t happen 4-5 times, we’re probably at a tie right now.

I don’t know that OSU is MUCH better than FSU. But look at all the trouble that Zack Robinson is giving you guys. I would hate to see what Tebow + all that speed would do to the OU defense. Not to mention two of OU’s TD scoring plays have been on extremely lucky plays one of which would have ended with a punt and the other a loss of downs. Odds are that luck might not be there in a national title game.

of how poor OSU and OU have been defensively. Neither teams can stop anybody today.
When discussing to style points, OU looks bad by allowing OSU to score their 2nd highest scoring total in the big 12 play (besides killing A&M).

Josey?
What does he have to do with anything? Bama may not be able to beat OU, Texas, or Tech, but to say there is no way they could play with them is a joke.
Your Big XII bias is out of control here.

in that conference could beat all 4 of those teams either. That is why the Big XII and the BCS is in the huge clusterfuck that it’s in this year.

I was having this discussion with a freind of mine
when the worst team in your conference is still in the top 40 in total defense does that mean that all those teams are that good, or the league wide offense are just below average?

Here's my pitch for a UT/Florida BCS championship
UT’s defense would match up perfectly with Florida’s offensive scheme. I also don’t think that Florida has faced the zone read look, so UT may have an offensive advantage also.

So...
I realize that the Big XII is a great conference this year with some really good teams in OU, Texas, TT, OSU, etc., but does anyone in that fucking conference know how to play any defense?
I also know there are some major Big XII honks on this board but I’m sorry, Florida would roll any team in the nation right now by 3 touchdowns. Any team.

Does OU face the backlas for there past losses in the BCS?
Tackey… Should have kneeled it or fell down after the 1st down…

The nail in the coffin
So much for UT’s chances.. the 60 points is enough for voters to look past the other side of the scoreboard. I agree with Musberger on this… coaches from other conferences shouldn’t be deciding our championship.

Its just tackey to basicly have to run up the score to
try and get votes…
Pre BCS the head coach for any team would be absolutely livid for disrespecting an opponent with that last TD. For that matter sports writers would as well. It is just bad sportsmanship and sets a bad example and precedent.

the way i see it
NC- OU/Fla
Sugar- Alabama/ Boise
Fiesta – Utah/Texas
Orange- Cincinatti/BC
Rose – Penn State/ USC
I picked Boise because they’re actually ranked ahead of Ohio State right now for the last spot.

I don't want to play Utah
That’s a trap. If Texas blows their doors off, the talking heads will say “Well, that’s what happens when you play a mid major”.
Or it could be a close game and “Well, Texas was obviously overrated, since Utah hung in there with them”
Or worse, lose to them, which would hurt not only recruiting but respect in next year’s polls.

Florida Could Mess Things Up (Or Make Things Right)
What nobody seems to be talking about is how OU is just slightly ahead of Florida in the Coach’s Poll right now (at #2 – 1412 points to 1401), and they are slightly ahead of Texas in the Harris poll (1298-1277).
Depending on the computers the deciding factor could be whether or not Florida jumps OU in the coach’s poll. After all, they also beat an interstate ranked rival, and did so in a more impressive fashion than OU’s victory over OSU. I think the fact that they played strong defense against a team that was averaging over 35 points per game coming into the bout with Florida says something. If the computers leave Texas with a slight edge (which is possible according to some analysts), then the difference could be the human polls which look to be close as well.
Who knows? This whole thing is a mess…
