Rangers expected to offer arbitration to Bradley
T.R. Sullivan reports that the Rangers are expected to offer arbitration to Milton Bradley.
Not really a surprise, I don't think...he's not likely to accept, and even if he did, it means he comes back to the Rangers on what should be a fairly reasonable one year deal. We are past the days of John Hart, who was terrified at the slim possibility of a guy he wanted gone (i.e., Pudge Rodriguez) accepting arbitration, and thus was willing to give up the possibility of getting draft pick compensation.
Of course, at that time, Hart didn't run the draft anyway, so getting more draft picks probably wasn't much of a priority.
The deadline is 11 p.m. tomorrow. If Bradley is offered arbitration and signs elsewhere, the Rangers will get a sandwich pick between the first and second rounds in 2009.

Good.
There’s probably only like a 5% chance he accepts, but if he does it’d cause a little chaos. I guess he’d have to play a COF with Blalock here.

I really wouldn't have a problem
With his bat here if he does accept.

That chaos is worth it
if he accepts, that’s going to be great for the Rangers.

yea
seriously would love that scenerio… We’d have a hard time getting everyone on the field, but injuries would probably quickly sort that out. Think about how good our O would be with Davis for a full year, Nellie playing up to his abilities + Bradley and maybe even a healthy Blalock.

Indeed.
But who do you think goes to make room?
Blalock so we can DH him again?
Or one of our many non-Hambone OF’ers (Byrd, Cruz, the Mosquito) so he can man a COF spot?
It’d be interesting to see how the dominoes fall if the unpossible happens and he accepts.

Blalock
Let him go live on someone else’s DL

It'd have to be Blalock
I’m not sure I really see Bradley ever playing the OF full-time again. Not if teams want to keep him healthy.

Blalock would probably be gone
And I can live with that if we are talking about Bradley.

Did anyone think the Rangers were not going to do this?
Given the Rangers probably wanted him back on a one-year basis anyway, it seems a pretty clear decision.
That said, I’m glad this deadline is here – teams should start signing guys who they were waiting on hoping their teams wouldn’t offer arbitration. That should get stuff going a little quicker.

No
This is the first confirmation that it will happen, though.

What will be interesting...
is to see what guys dont get offered Arb on other teams. Im really interested in seeing if the Brewers offer Sheets Arb. Kinda sounds like they may not.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't
If he accepts, it seems like they could simply trade him to another team. I imagine the Rangers would be happy to have Sheets on a one year arbitration deal.

The only way it makes sense is if they know something about his medicals that others don't know yet.

What would Bradley earn
Should he accept arbitration? Seems he’d have a pretty strong case for a significant raise.

Doesn't really solve anything,
but they need to get rid of Frank Catalanotto before opening day.
And if Bradley could somehow play the OF the majority of the time, along with Hamilton and Nelly. Wow.

I haven't been able to find this quote
But if somebody out there wants to win, they’ll sign Milton Bradley.
