College Football 11/8
This is shaping up to be a good day.
Baylor at Texas in the early game, with UT surely to rebound from last week's disappointing loss.
Alabama at LSU -- Best chance for an upset all day
OSU at Tech -- OSU hasn't won @ TT in like 60 years. However, Tech is wearing the target now. There's no way they don't lose either this game or @ OU.
OU at A&M -- That really shouldn't be a contest. Poor aggy.

sweet profile pic btw
my picks:
texas over baylor
OSU over tech (and i dont think its that close)
OU over aTm (stoops is 59-2 at home)
that said, i think the bama/lsu game could be VERY interesting

OSU
Do you think they win in the air or on the ground? Their talent is in the air, but I think they can do more damage on the ground tonight.

Ground at first
That will open up the air.

i think they grind it out on the ground /go with ball control in the second half to keep TT off the field
you think its close boomer?

UT’s secondary has been terrible the last few years. I think that’s due to the instability at DC, which hurts recruiting. Enough is enough. This has been a joke. I realize injuries play a factor, but come on.

why in the hell would you put Colt in a position to get hit and hit hard?. Options, running plays with the QB, come on now…
I wouldn’t doubt he’s playing extremely hurt right now…
And, he’s still doing rather well.

Texas
As bad as they have played this was to be expected. They just came off one of the toughest stretches in probably NCAA history and they are beat up bad. They have Kansas on the road next week. Colt got lit up today but its still 42-14 ( about to be 49-14) and we look to be completely in control. Baylor is not the baylor of the last few years. Briles is a good coach and this Griffin kid is a player. A feshman player at that. Overall its not a pretty win but I think the coaches, taking everything into account, will take it and not look back.

yes but no way all 2 get into the NC game...right?
or is there some possiblity
because i know if there is a 3 way tie it defaults to BCS standings
but if TT loses to OSU and then OU beats them will taht valut OU over texas?
if TT beats OSU but loses to OU does that jump them over tx?

basically
off the top of my head
penn st loses
alabama loses a game before the SEC champ + loses SEC champ
florida loses one but wins the SEC champ
texas wins out
OU wins out (beats Texas Tech/OSU)
OSU beats Tech, loses to OU
OU or Texas makes it to BIG XII Champ, wins BIG XII Champ
This would leave Texas/OU (winner of Big XII Champ) as #1, and would make it close between USC and texas/OU (whoever doesnt make BIG XII champ)
normal people : chuck norris :: getting flustered in big games : greg davis
by knockoutking on Nov 8, 2008 5:35 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
No
If Tech loses twice Texas is in the Big 12 champ game because we hold the head to head tiebreaker with both OU and OSU. The only way I see OU getting in the Big 12 champ game is if there is a three way tie for first. If thats the case then it comes down to BCS standings. In my personal opinion I think a late season win over an undefeated Tech would vault OU over Texas and into the Big 12 champ game.
That could also theoretically lead to a all Big 12 MNC game. If Alabama loses today and to Florida. If Florida loses to FSU. If PSU loses today. Then I think a one loss Texas and the Big 12 champ OU could be the two to play for the MNC.
Having said all that TCUs loss to Utah could keep OU from the Big 12 title game. With them dropping in the polls it may be the determining factor in the BCS standings.

if its a 3 way tie though
it defaults to whoever has the highest bcs ranking
this would happen if :
tech beats OSU, loses to OU, beats texas
texas beats OSU, beats OU, loses to tech
OU beats OSU, loses to texas, beats Tech

Yep
Basically if Tech wins tonight and loses to OU its a three way tie as long as OU beats OSU.
Like I said in that scenario the fact that its a late season game and Tech would obviously be #1 or #2 if OU beats them and then OSU I believe that would vault OU over Texas

Well...
A few thoughts:
- Tech is damn good. Much better than I gave them credit for. OU will have their hands full in Norman in two weeks. If they win that game, they will beat OSU, and it will be CLOSE between them and UT for the BCS tiebreaker. If not, Tech will roll all the way to Miami.
- Penn State was never good, and they finally lost, taking them out of the picture. Thank God.
- Alabama will get destroyed by Florida in the SEC title game. End of story there.
- Florida will win out (barring a crazy injury to half the team/Tebow) and go to Miami. They’re all but a lock to get there.
- UT looks banged up and played horribly today (I don’t care what the scoreboard says). If they can get healthy again, win out, and have the OU/Tech scenario fall their way, they will meet Florida in Miami and have a great shot to beat them. If not, it will be OU or Tech taking their place. Either way, that title game is gonna be fun to watch this year.

Jindal '12
by Longhorn on Nov 8, 2008 11:24 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Its possible
It all due to the timing of the game. If Tech is #1 or #2 and OU wins a late season game against them and then goes on and beats a top 15 OSU team their strength of schedule will jump pretty high. As long as TCU wins out that could vault them above Texas in the rankings as our SOS is only going to drop playing Kansas and aTm the rest of the season.
This is the scenario I am really worried about. But we can’t root for OU to lose to OSU because then its just us and Tech in a head to head tiebreak which they hold on us.
What I am rooting for is Tech to win out
Bama lose to Auburn and Florida
Florida loses to FSU but beat Bama
I think that would set up a Texas/TT MNC game.

Our ranking is only going to drop due to our SOS because the only two games left for us are Kansas and aTm who are both out of the top 25 now. Florida beating a #1 or #2 Bama will catapult them. Plus they still have a top 15 FSU team to play as well. Florida is sitting pretty right now.

Where did I say...
Texas is overrated? Is it because I would have them 4th instead of 3rd in the polls?
In fact, the coaches poll has them 5th and the AP has them 4th so I actually think they are better than the coaches do. Some of you Longhorn fans are just like Yankee fans in baseball. You think everything should be given to you just because of who you are. There is no way Texas will play in the NC game against Tech, period. That’s what you said would happen, and you’re wrong.
Plus, I have no shtick. Why don’t you try putting together 2 coherent sentences once in a while and actually try to discuss an issue. It doesn’t matter if it’s baseball, football, or politics. You add nothing but little one liners and talking points to any discussion.

Florida
Florida is beating teams by more than Texas is right now. I don’t know who is the better team. Florida is damn good. But so is Texas. While I agree with you that the BCS would hate seeing two teams from the same conference in the MNC game it could happen. And you are right in that if Florida wins out they are in the MNC game. Thats a lock. But if the chips fall the right way a one loss Texas could play an undefeated TT in the championship game. Its a longshot but theres a chance.

Texas
We have a lead on them in the computers of 0.1. Our remaining games are against Kansas and aTm. Two teams outside the top 25. OUs remaining games are against TT and OSU. Two top 15 teams. The computers are going to put them in front most likely. I know you don’t want to hear it but open your eyes. Its pretty easy to see.

what's amazing is the human 'error' polls
when UF loses to an unranked team and Texas loses to basically the number 1 team in the nation and UF is ranked ahead of them. And OU ahead of Texas in one of the human ‘error’ polls is just laughable.

This isn't the first time
Its all about timing. Floridas loss came early enough in the year that they have had plenty of time to jump up in the polls due to not only their play being outstanding since then but also other teams losing.

For the record...
It’s one computer, and that ranking gets dropped because it’s the highest.
