Very OT: Audio Problems
I've been real frustrated in trying to eliminate the static noise in my car audio system. My setup is this: I have my ipod hooked up to a device that provides an lcd screen to show what's being played and it then hooks up to the aux input in my car. I have found the source of the problem being my hookup from the aux to the device and it's the device's problem because when my ipod is hooked directly to the aux it works perfect. So getting a better wire is not the solution I would think.
My question is there anyway to improve the connection of the device by a quick fix or something? Some kind of aluminum foil trick? lol

Strange Question for this Group
There are a lot of things that could cause this.
The first thing to check are the connections (wires and jacks). When you only have your iPod connected, you say there’s no problem. Try to hook the iPod to the stereo with the other wire. If you have a problem, it’s the wire.
Anytime you chain stuff together, you’re going to experience at least some signal loss. It could be that, or that the device has faulty internal components that are introducing interference. In an attempt to circumvent either problem, you could purchase a HIGH QUALITY “Y” adapter. From the adapter, run a cable to your device and and the other directly into your stereo.
If you’re still having problems, it could still be either faulty components in the device or inadequate shielding somewhere that’s producing interference. In that case you could try exchanging the LCD thing for a new one.
That’s all the obvious stuff. I’d just call tech support if I were you, or maybe a tech support forum would be better.

I thought the iPod had a built-in screen to show what's playing.

No it's a cool feature for the car...
You can mount the lcd on the dash and it comes with a control knob that you can stick anywhere that lets you control the ipod without taking your eyes off the road and causing an accident. It charges your ipod and has a built in fm transmitter if you don’t have the aux input AND it looks pretty sweet too. Definitely annoying that with so many good features it has to have damn annoying static.

Static is normally something stupid
like a bad ground or a loose wire or a bad solder joint. If you can borrow another device, I’d check to see if you just got a bad unit, and try to replace it.
