hmmm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Werder

even wiki knows…

Bias

Ed Werder has been known to have bias against the Dallas Cowboys ever since Terrell Owens joined the team. It seems to stem largely from Owens’ cold responses to Werder’s questions and recently Owens having completely ignored Werder’s questions by asking for the “next question.”

heh

As much as wiki is good for somethings, I really wouldn’t trust it for “bias.”

I'm wearing my Emmitt Smith jersey and my Cowboys hat.

But playing the Giants while hanging on for our playoff lives without large odds of winning certainly does not get me stoked, regardless of where we’re playing.

i dont' see it as likely

There’s a really good chance TB wins out.

Then it comes down to Atl and the Bears (who have already lost 6).

Atl can easily win out but assuming that they can’t put the vikings away, they’d be tied with the same conference record. Then it is win percentage in common games (min 4) which there might not be a minimum for. Gets complicated there.

Bears could also win out and have the same conference record.

That doesn’t add up to likely for me.

Mandatory reading before suggesting a trade

by ab03 on Dec 14, 2008 6:44 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I don't think the odds are in favor of every team winning out.

In fact, I know they’re not. That would be 6 teams of 11+ wins, there’s a reason that doesn’t happen often.

Could it? Yup. Is it likely? No.

by philkid3 on Dec 14, 2008 6:47 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

In other words, individually the Falcons and Bucs may be favored in those games.

But the odds of there being an upset increases as you increase the number of games. The odds are not very strong for the favorite winning all of 4 games.

Of course, the Eagles aren’t out of it. . .

I agree....

They will probably win this game so that they give me hope before kicking me in the stomach later in the season

The next two weeks are.

by philkid3 on Dec 14, 2008 6:36 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree that

it is very close to one, considering recent events. The reason is that a loss today and a win against Baltimore probably loses them a game in conference record, and if they finish 10-6, they probably need to win a tiebreaker to get in.

I could see the Cowboys hanging tough, showing up big on a big stage and taking the fight to the Giants.

I could also see the Giants coming in and wiping the floor with Dallas.

Hopefully it’ll be a good one.

Lol, nooo

Ed Werder doesn’t try to ‘stir’ things up, not at all…

Werder is almost always at Valley Ranch to cover the ‘Boys for ESPN but his and the network’s handling of the most recent T.O. situation has garnered him a few enemies in Big D. Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com has some choice words for the writer and a little bit of a tiff broke out yesterday. PFT has the details….Per a source with knowledge of the exchange, they debated whether the question was aimed at getting a response from Owens that then could be used as proof of a problem in Dallas. As they talked, things started to get a little heated. Eventually, Werder walked away. While doing so, he made a comment regarding Eatman’s overall credibility, given that he writes for a team-owned publication.Eatman responded by suggesting that ESPN specifically tries to get its reporters to stir things up.
Eatman’s point is a valid one. At times, it appears that the ESPN machine tries to create a story, and then to squeeze every last drop of 2 percent out of it. The fact that Werder apparently got a little defensive about the situation suggests to us that, in his heart, he suspects that there might be some merit to what Eatman said.

Tech is a SYSTEM

Every QB puts up good numbers for 5 or 6 years strait, all different guys. All put up huge numbers, yet nobody sniffs the light of day in the NFL.

So Tech has magical abilities for recruiting the greatest QB’s in all of college football? Or does the system just dictate that they throw it 100 times.

That is why tech is a system.

by SaltyGoesYard on Dec 14, 2008 7:16 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Right

They throw it a lot. That’s a system?

by brettgardner on Dec 14, 2008 7:17 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Thats the system.

It creates artificial numbers, when in reality no Tech players should come close to being considered the “best” player in college football.

by SaltyGoesYard on Dec 14, 2008 7:18 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Hmm?

I don’t think anybody pointed to Harrell’s TDs in the argument. He led a traditionally mediocre team to 11-1 in the best conference in football.

You can keep whining cause he beat the shit out of Kansas, I guess. Maybe you should pray that the butterball up there develops a “system”.

by brettgardner on Dec 14, 2008 7:21 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Well he beat the shit out of Kansas

Because they have an absolutely terrible defense. Also they pretty much suck. Kansas that is.

They did a good job of manipulating the schedule.

They managed to beat 1 out of the 2 tough teams they faced at home.

Then got their ass kicked. So 11-1 does not really impress me too much, Hell even Kansas can pull that off.

Is the argument that:

1) Everything would have been fine this week internally for the Cowboys, were it not for Ed Werder causing problems and controversy, or
2) There would still be internal strife and conflict because of T.O.‘s jackassery, but we wouldn’t know about it, and that would be best, because we shouldn’t be hearing about it.

by brettgardner on Dec 14, 2008 7:45 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

i think a bit of a compromise

maybe a 25 yard PI call b/c 15 isnt quite enough to not do PI intentional

now whoring my blogon 5 different sites!

by studcrackers on Dec 14, 2008 7:46 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I think

That’s too much. Not every pass interference call is a guy just tackling the receiver before he catches it. It’s not always a sure catch.

by brettgardner on Dec 14, 2008 7:47 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

This. This is where the problem is to me.

If it’s not a sure catch and the DB isn’t explicitly ruining its chance, that shouldn’t be PI/spot foul.

I’m fine with keeping spot fouls if they make the rule a whole lot less subjective. I don’t pretend to have the answer right now, but it sucks and needs to be fixed.

by philkid3 on Dec 14, 2008 7:49 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I don't know.

Maybe. I do agree that if a defender keeps a receiver from catching a ball in an illegal fashion, it should be a spot foul.

I just think the refs suck at determining that.

by philkid3 on Dec 14, 2008 7:47 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

See I don't

The problem is the times you'd have intentional PIs on purpose.

Because it would be better to, say, give up 15 yards than let them get to the 1, for instance, because you’re getting beat.

I don’t think 15 yards is near enough of a penalty if a DB is illegally stopping a receiver from making a legal catch downfield. The problem is how many times DBs are called for doing that when they aren’t.

by philkid3 on Dec 14, 2008 7:50 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

But again

You could say the same thing about a holding call. Sometimes it’s better to hold than let your QB get sacked.

by brettgardner on Dec 14, 2008 7:51 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Thanks.

My point was that you’re not actually fixing anything with that rule.

by brettgardner on Dec 14, 2008 7:52 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Well

You are not making it so there’s either a 40 yard penalty or a no-call.

I think there’s a middle ground that is acceptable.

I don’t have a problem with a spot foul when a burned DB tackles a guy to keep him from catching the ball.

But when there’s jostling going down the field and a flag is thrown and 30 yards are given? That’s a problem.

by Adam J. Morris on Dec 14, 2008 7:54 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I guess

It’s just a fundamental disagreement, then. I don’t see why a pass interference should be so different from every other penalty. Give em the 15 and a 1st. Play on.
