i must say

NBC has the best HD signal.

so

I had heard that CBS was the best, but I was watching the game today and I didn’t really think so (also new to HDTV)

NBC definitely has a pretty good one...

Fox beats CBS I think (Haven’t seen ABC though because Charter is stupid and won’t offer ABC HD)

Oh god no

CBS and NBC are by far the best. ABC and FOX are both about equal in their suckiness. Theres a huge gap between the top two and the bottom two

Q (from tyd3311): Why is Manning favoring his TE?

it would be different if he was a rookie coach trying to carve out his niche but hes been around long enough and people know enough about him they wouldn’t respect him yelling or acting pissed off.

Honestly...

I was in favor of the Avery signing thinking he would add the grit the team needed. However, he really is just a combustible source of energy that turns everything to shit around him. I’m not really sure where the Stars go from here. Seems like they’re going to keep him til end of year and then release him to reduce salary cap impact (Still has 3 years left at 4 mil a year after this year). Or they may send him to the minors and hope he fails to report which means they can suspend him without pay.

re: ball state

Ball State’s campus spans more than 1,000 acres (4 km²). The student body consists of more than 20,000 students, of which over 18,000 are undergraduate students and over 1,500 are graduate students.

Perhaps the most recognizable alumnus of Ball State is American television host, David Letterman, of The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS. He is joined by fellow television performers, Joyce DeWitt, who played Janet Wood in the 1970s sitcom Three’s Company, and Anthony Montgomery, who played Travis Mayweather on Star Trek: Enterprise on UPN. Andy Devine, character actor and comic cowboy side kick Oct 7 1905 – Feb 18 1977 played football at the university.

Several professional athletes participated in Ball State sports before turning pro. They include NFL players such as Justin Beriault of the Dallas Cowboys; Reggie Hodges, a punter drafted in 2005 by the St. Louis Rams and currently with the Indianapolis Colts; Blaine Bishop, formerly of the Tennessee Titans; Brad Maynard, a punter with the Chicago Bears; Bernie Parmalee, formerly of the Miami Dolphins and current tight ends coach at the University of Notre Dame;, Dante Ridgeway, a wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, and Ed Konopasek, formerly of the Green Bay Packers. NBA stars Theron Smith of the Charlotte Bobcats and Bonzi Wells of the New Orleans Hornets competed on the NCAA level at Ball State as did Major League Baseball players, including Larry Bigbie of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bryan Bullington, pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Thomas Howard ("Tank"), formerly of the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, and several other major league teams.

He was a Ball St alum...

but yeah, he was making $240,000 a year on a contract just renegotiated in February. I would guess SDSU is paying him at least double.

That SDSU job is so inviting, yet seems no one can do anything with it. With all the talent in So Cal, you’d think you could build something with it, but no one ever seems to.

Yeah, I remember.

But it’s not like Romo is showing himself to be a better option at this point.

by Athos on Dec 14, 2008 9:17 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

How?

Missing wide open receivers isn’t really a recipe for scoring points. And that’s what he’s been doing consistently.

by Athos on Dec 14, 2008 9:19 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Johnson would be getting sacks and throwing interceptions.

And he wouldn’t be able to even get the ball that deep, let alone incomplete.

I have to think you’re a troll or just insane.

by philkid3 on Dec 14, 2008 9:20 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I've noticed that many of you have developed a "hero" complex ...

for Romo. I can understand that as he is very good—from September through November.

But how you can defend him when he’s missing wide open receivers and making stupid decisions borders on hypocrisy.

His backups stink, no question about that. But in his present state of mind or health, he isn’t playing much better than the alternative. How many points do they have today?

by Athos on Dec 14, 2008 9:23 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, he is playing much better.

I feel like you haven’t watched Brad Johnson the last couple years.

You’re definitely a troll.

by philkid3 on Dec 14, 2008 9:24 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Look, jackass ...

he’s playing like crap. That is indisputable. He’s not leading the offense to more points than his backups were getting. Your refusal to acknowledge his warts destroys any credibility you might have otherwise had. If you want to argue a valid point, I’m happy to talk further, but if your only response is a conclusory “Brad Johnson sucks” followed by a “you’re a troll”, then go hump somebody else’s leg.

Even if Romo isn't playing well. . .

He is stretching the field better than Johnson can. He is staying alive in the pocket better than Johnson can. He is avoiding defenders — on the ground and in the air — better than Johnson can. He can scramble better than Johnson can. He releases the ball quicker than Johnson can.

Even when Romo is throwing incompletions, he is better than Brad Johnson. It’s unfortunate maybe, but true.

And yes, certainly a lot of the Cowboys offensive failure is playing a wicked defense, too.
