Clinton Crawdads?
Get the penalty box ready because I'm sure this is not breaking news to any of you, but it is to me, so deal with it.
Apparently the Texas rangers have stopped using the Clinton Lumberkings as there class A affiliate, and have a new agreement with the 'Hickory Crawdads" and they will become the rangers new Class A affiliate. The Crawdads, who used to be the affiliate for the pirates, The lumber kings will now be the affiliate for the ma,, ma... marin...mariners... ew.
This is sad, because somewhere on the interwebs long long ago, i purchased a clinton lumberkings baseball jersey, and have yet to wear it in public, maybe tomorrow i will just for good measure, because it may have some special powers that would help during finals week
Anyone know about the reasons for this shuffle, or anything else.

Yeah, this happened awhile ago...
I never did hear much about the specifics of the move, just that it happened and that the Dirkatron is happy because Ranger minor leaguers are now within driving distance of him.
"I´d like to apologize in advance for anything that I may say or do that could be construed as offensive as I slowly go NUTS."
yeah, i didnt hear anything about it
until today when i was ready BBTiA and they mentioned the “Hickory Crawdads” and i had to do a double take
touchdown... touchdown... and st.micheals takes the lead.
And I'm sad
because Rangers minor leaguers are NO LONGER with in driving distance of me.
My loss is dirkatron’s gain, I guess.

NO penalty box
hey thanks for the info. I didn’t know this was going down.
I voted for … “Yes, Im a Junkie for merchandise no one else will understand” :)
I’ll sorta miss the Lumberkings. But I’ll love the Clinton Crawdads
And our AA team is no longer in Tulsa.
And we don’t Spring Train in FLA anymore.
And Juan Gonzalez has been traded to the Tigers!!!
I texted my boy DJ about this diary and he texted back that he deems it to be unworthy of a jump throw.

am i wrong or
is the sally league a little bit more advanced of a league than the one clinton is in? I remember reading when we got andrus that we should expect a little bump in numbers from him changing leagues (to a slightly less advanced level) since the braves have a sally team.
is this right?
how does this effect the rangers approach as far as long term dev. goes and their philosophy?
mormons stole me and held me against my will with Oklahoma beer and 12+ hour work days.
They're very comparable
They’re on the same level of competition. There’s more runs scored over the course of the season in the Sally League due to a few small factors, mainly due to the cold spell in the Midwest League at the beginning of the year. But that difference isn’t significant at all. Andrus came to us out of the Carolina League and went to the California League with Bakersfield, and that makes for a significant boost in numbers, as the California League is the most hitter-friendly minors league in all of baseball.
Minor League caps
I’m a fan of the ridiculous minor league logo. I wear my Salem-Kaizer Volcanoes hat all the time because its a decent looking hat with a burning anthropomorphic baseball flying out of a big V.
I also have a few others including a Savannah Sand Gnats hat, and the most ridiculous of all, a Montgomery Biscuits hat. I’m just a sucker for that stuff. It makes me laugh that somewhere a team is trying to play baseball with a giant freaking googly eyed biscuit for a mascot.
Minor League Teams
One of my favorites that I’ve run across is the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Iowa)…the mascot is a big ear of corn with a baseball for a head called Mr. Shucks.

September 23rd
That’s when this happened.
The primary factor was getting out of Clinton, not moving to Hickory per se. Just not one of the nicer facilities out there (even after renovations) and in what might be the smallest city with a full-season team. (Bakersfield is worse, but that’s a different story.)
Milwaukee wanted to move to Wisconsin, Pittsburgh wanted West Virginia, and Texas wanted out of Clinton. So Seattle got Clinton by default.

So would you say that
the Mariners got the Rangers sloppy seconds?
