LSB Community Prospect Project: #29
Yay! Our first incident of ballot stuffing last time around... And for Geuris Grullon of all people. Weird. And lame. Weird and lame.
After 301 mostly real votes, Pedro "The Audacity of" Strop has won the right to be called the LSB Community #28 prospect!

Time to move on to the vote for #29.
The polls are open, so go ahead and vote in the poll at the bottom and feel free to make any suggestions and/or criticisms in the comments below.
And please don't hesitate to tell me you want on the list for next time.
NOTE: There has been some speculation as to what the criteria are for this vote. Should guys who have spent time in the bigs be involved in "prospect" discussions? For the sake of this exercise we're taking what the guys have done in the big leagues and using the BA prospect formula of 130 AB's or 50 ip. If a guy is under those limits, he's still a prospect and he goes on the poll. It's that simple.

It's Kyle O'Campo vs. Carlos Pimentel for me
Two seemingly similar pitchers here – both 6’3" fastball/curveball righties with very similar stats.
Pimentel’s a year younger and a class higher so smart money dictates he should probably get the vote over O’Campo at this point, although I have to say, I personally lean toward O’Campo a bit because he’s got a little bit better control – and he’s a SoCal homeboy.
Tough choice, but I’ll go with the smart money – Pimentel.

what happened over there?
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

No one thing.
It’s just really bad. The posters are idiots, overreactors and massive homers. And even the bloggers aren’t exactly pictures of reason or objectivity.

I want to name my dog Geuris if I ever get one. Or child. Whichever comes first perhaps.
Thanks Jason for including him in your excellent series. Keep it coming.

Geuris
I wonder how it’s pronounced … harry? jerry? gairrous? gary? garreese?
And you know there’s some rolled R’s in there.
by shroomer on Dec 16, 2008 12:11 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I should clarify
When I called him “Jerry” he answered. That doesn’t mean it was an accurate pronunciation.
by jparks77 on Dec 16, 2008 12:13 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I pronounce it "Gwuh-air-iss"
But I never pronounce the Latin American guys’ names right.

Doesn't seem like
Gollum would be a ground ball guy? Not quite so tall, probably, though. And good luck getting him to give up the ball.

Watch our for this kid next year

I'll keep an eye out for Tmurph
first and then see if I glimpse Bleier in my peripheral vision. He seems like a good bullpen candidate with his control and I can’t see him beating out too many of our top youngsters as a starter for too long.

This poll is now officially tainted...
How does Grullon go from 25% in poll 28 to 2% in poll 29? In all reality, based on 28, he should have won 29. Instead he’s tied for 11th place. Wtf?

It means people were being shady last poll
This is more indicative of what he should be at

Yup.
Same thing happened last time with Osuna. He came out of nowhere and almost won a vote with like 70 votes in ten minutes, and then went right back to getting zero votes the next poll.
I think it’s AJM messing with me cause he dislikes me and the way I wear my hat, but I could be wrong.

I blame SH
He’s probably just picking random players and trying to fuck with us – he’s already made several derogatory remarks about these polls, and he’s the only one I’ve seen do so.
