Redding, non-tendered by the Washington Nationals last Friday, has become a popular target. The Rockies, Rangers, Mets and Orioles have been the most aggressive suitors for Redding, a major league executive source confirmed.

Since there is no Rangers news out there
I thought I’d throw this up. Not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere, I didn’t see it.
Note the appropriate use of a fanshot…

Funny, though,
That your fanshot moves to the front page. It just goes to show that the aggressive filtering advocated by some is rather silly in the arid wastelands of late-December baseball blogging.

If Adam
deems it appropriate for front page, then great. But it doesn’t change the fact that it belongs where it is. I thought it was an interesting piece of news that speaks for itself, so instead of following it with "75 words is stupid! " over and over again, I just made it a fanshot. And it got noticed, so the fanshot worked.

The link in your fanshot redirects back to this fanshot.

I have no idea why it is doing that
I went in to edit it, and its not broken in the editor (points to the right place). So who knows – just finicky – paste the link text into your browser, but it doesn’t say any more than just that. I was going to write that I found the link on MLBtraderumors, but you can’t really add text to a quote, and they don’t say anything more.

Weird.
Thanks for the news nonetheless. It sure is bleak having to deal with the other major sports these days.

On a further note
I really hope the Rangers’ interest in him is nothing more than someone who would get a non-roster invite to spring training.

This puzzles me
Looking at his numbers, everything about Tim Redding = meh. Meh FIP, meh K rate, meh walk rate, meh WHIP, meh TRA+. I have absolutely no idea why we’d consider putting him in the rotation over anybody we currently have.

Plus he is kind of ahead case
I’d be pissed if we made a move for him.
Nolan Ryan is the Greatest Pitcher ever, because Google says so.

yeah
he’s the type of guy who is always going to be rumored as a possible acquisition for teams with questionable pitching (remember the perennial Brett Tomko to Texas rumors?) I’d just as soon pass.
I remember years ago in Houston when it was thought that he may be better than Oswalt, and everyone was giving the Astros 4 World Series with Oswalt, Redding, and Miller heading that rotation. Didn’t quite work out…
